Cassidy Theatre announces auditions for the classic comedy YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH  YOU by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.

AUDITION DATES:  Sunday, April 9th and Monday, April 10th.  Both days at 7:00p.m.
PERFORMANCE DATES:  June 2 - 18, 2006

SYNOPSIS:  The Sycamore family is a delightfully crazy family that is not totally in touch with the outside world.  Daughter Alice has fallen in love with Tony Kirby, her straitlaced boss's son.  When Tony brings his parents to dinner on the wrong night, the Kirbys don't know quite what to make of the Sycamores.  They are, in fact, shocked and appalled that Tony would think of marrying into the family.  Alice realized that her family could never fit into Tony's world and she tries to break it off with Tony.  Tony, however, feels his family is wrong and sets about trying to prove it to his father and Alice.

Director Dan Sekanic is seeking:   2 women aged 18 - 30; 
                                                                    5 women 40 - 55; 
                                                                    2 men aged 20 - 35; 
                                                                    6 men aged 40 - 55;
                                                                    1 man aged 50 - 70
                                                                    Three very small roles also available for men of any age.  
ALL ROLES ARE OPEN.  NON-TRADITIONAL CASTING.  

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:  
Alice Sycamore (18 - 20) Loves her family, but sometimes wishes they could be a bit more "normal".

Tony Kirby (20-30) Boss's son trying to prove to Alice and his father that there's more to life than money and business.  Sometimes you just have to have fun.

Martin Vanderhof (50 - 70) Alice's grandfather.  He sees nothing wrong with the way his family lives.  He made peace with the world years ago.  He's also avoided paying taxes, ever.  Largest line load of the show, many speeches.

Penny Sycamore (40-55) Alice's mother.  Writes plays, paints, and other hobbies depending on her mood.

Paul Sycamore (40-55) Charming and mild-mannered.  He makes fireworks in the basement.

Essie Carmichael (20-30) Alice's sister.  Dances ballet all day every day.  Makes candy.  Will require dancing throughout the show.

Ed Carmichael (25-35) Essie's husband.  He delivers Essie's candy, accompanies her dancing on his xylophone, and dabbles in printing.

Mr. Kirby (40-55) Tony's father.  A bit uptight now, but once upon a time he was more relaxed.

Mrs. Kirby (40-55) Tony's mother.

Mr. DePinna (45-55) Sycamore's "houseguest".  Helps Paul with the fireworks in the basement.

Boris Kolenkhov (40-55) Essie's ballet teacher.  Will require some strenuous physical activity.

Rheba (40-55) The Sycamore's maid.  Scripted for African-American.

Donald (40-55) Reba's boyfriend. Scripted for African-American.

Henderson (30-55) The taxman who tries to get Grandpa to pay his taxes.  Has only one scene in Act 1.

Gay Wellington (40-55) Alcoholic actress Penny meets on the bus.  Penny would like Gay to read one of her plays.  Has only one scene in Act 2.  Can be doubled with Olga

Grand Duchess Olga Katrina (40-55) Former Russian Grand Duchess now working as a waitress at Child's.  Has only one scene in Act 3.  Can be doubled with Gay.

3 G-men (male any age) Have a short scene at the end of Act 2.  Very small line load, will require little rehearsal time.
