Weathervane Playhouse Announces

OPEN CALL AUDITIONS for Jason Robert Brown's

THE LAST FIVE YEARS

Weathervane Playhouse will hold OPEN CALL AUDITIONS for the contemporary =
musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS. Auditions will be held at Weathervane =
Playhouse (1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron, In the Valley off Merriman =
Road) on Tuesday, April 18 from 5 - 8:30 p.m. NO APPOINTMENTS ARE =
REQUIRED.

Cast requirements: 1 Woman (20s - 30s)

1 Man (20s - 30s)

Broad Vocal Range necessary. Strong singers needed.

Prepare: One song (bring sheet music in the correct key)

This musical will be performed the Weathervane's John L. Dietz Theater =
during the 2006-2007 season from November 1 - 18, 2006. Director for the =
production is Jacqi Loewy who, for Weathervane, directed productions of =
Little Shop of Horrors, The Fantasticks, Proof, the award-winning The =
Laramie Project and last season's The Rocky Horror Show.

The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown (who also wrote Parade) is an =
intimate, two-person musical that tells the compelling story of Jamie, a =
nice Jewish boy, and Kathleen, a good Irish Catholic girl, who fall in =
love, get married, and fall apart over the course of five years.  Brown =
has employed an unusual temporal shift in the piece, with Kathleen =
starting at the end of the marriage and working her way back, while =
Jamie begins on their first date and works his way forward.  Only once =
do Jamie and Kathleen sing together, at their wedding in the middle of =
the play.=20

Both roles are available. Weathervane Playhouse is committed to =
non-traditional casting. Except in cases where race, gender, age or =
disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast on the basis =
of talent. Weathervane Playhouse is a community theater. All performers =
