[NEOPAL]A not so important message about a really, REALLY, important message from Fred

Re: the idea of having reviews be links, not text:

Why not just have NEOPAL be limited to links. Most posters have alternative
brochureware listings somewhere. No need to post any content.

But seriously folks, whoever takes the time to post their review to NEOPAL
is providing a service to the arts community (and exposing themselves to the
disagreement of many and the ridicule of a few.) If you don't like reviews,
it's just as easy to scroll down a digest or click the "next message" button
as it is to click through to a website.

Why does everyone want to fashion Fred's list into a creature of their own
design, reflecting their personal taste and preference? Some people don't
want to read reviews. Some people don't want to read about a moving sale
for an artist headed out-of-town. Some people dont want to read about
Fred's camp. I'll bet there are even some people who curse every audition
listing they see.

We're given basic, easy-to-follow, easy-to-live-with guidelines, and the
messy chaos that follows is part and parcel of an exchange of ideas by
artists. Relax, scroll, breathe........ and enjoy the panoply of
opportunities, services, needs, opinions, etc. that define an artistic
community.

Thanks always to Fred for the amazing service he provides all of us.

George Roth

The last thing we need to do is to restrict the opportunity to read reviews

of Cleveland work any further. Isn1t it bad enough that on Monday most

reviews are restricted to 1 or 2 paragraphs in the Plain Dealer. Do we now

have to do the same here?! >>

How is providing a link "restricting" people's reading? Most publications
would actually prefer that you drive traffic to their sites rather than
reprint
articles in their entirety.
