This series of 4-hour workshops will look at functional anatomy and it's importance to the movement arts of Pilates, Yoga & Gyrokinesis. How does the iliopsoas muscle interfere with engaging the deep abdominal muscles? When you have a client that has a rounded upper back, where do you first focus – on strengthening the back, or releasing the tightness from the front? Increase your understanding of functional anatomy and how the body was designed to move. Improve your ability to see the relationships within the body and how to maximize your efforts to create more efficient movement patterns with your students.
Deborah Vogel is a dancer, author, and master teacher who conducts workshops across the U.S. for both student and professional dancers. Her numerous articles on dance technique and injury prevention have appeared in Dance Spirit and Dance Teacher magazines. She runs TheBodySeries, a website for movement teachers, and a faculty member at Oberlin College and the OC Conservatory of Music. During her years in NYC she co-founded the Center for Dance Medicine. In 2005 her book, Tune Up Your Turnout: A Dancer's Guide was published. Deborah makes her home in Oberlin, Ohio.

A Brief Overview of the Couples Yoga Workshop

The author and Yoga teacher Mark Whitwell, in his book Yoga of the Heart, reminds us that we are all both male and female. This should be obvious since each of us is born from the sexual union of a mother and father. That union, or Yoga, is the root of our true identity. Ram Das tells us that our intimate relationships, and how we deal with them, constitute the ultimate Yoga practice.
From this perspective, we can see how crucial it is for us to balance the male/female energy not just in ourselves, but within our relationships … and, indeed, in our world.
In her book, The Woman with the Alabaster Jar, Margaret Starbird writes convincingly that the “woundedness” that results from the separation of the male-female principle in ourselves, and in our war-torn world, can only be healed by the “renewal of the sacred vows” between these two compatible, but estranged, energies.
Join Tami and Terry on a vinyasa flowing journey that will have your spirits soaring high … together. Bring your partner for a celebration of the heart that will enable your to go deeper that your can on your own, and encourage your to stay on the path, together. We will co-create an afternoon of fun and adventure with assisted Thai Yoga Massage stretches, and we will use the sacred science of the Eight Limbs, including asana, meditation and mutual pranayama, to explore the harmony and the balance between the yin and yang, the sun and moon, the feminine/masculine, and how the union of those opposites will create a healing strength to transform ourselves, our relationships and our world.
