The Bang and the Clatter Theatre Company, Akron=92s newest professional =
theatre, will offer the first in a series of half-price Monday night "Th=
eatre Appreciation" performances for the actors and technicians of the r=
egion.  Monday April 17 we will offer a
performance of the area premiere of Adam Rapp=92s Blackbird at Summit Ar=
tSpace, 140 East Market Street in downtown Akron. Tickets will be $7.50.=


Directed by Sean McConaha, Blackbird is set on Christmas Eve in a rented=
 room on Canal Street, New York City.  Baylis (Sean Derry) is a disabled=
 Desert Storm veteran and ex-junkie. Froggy (Alanna Romansky) is a teen =
heroin addict stricken with Hepatitis.  A setting that could hardly be c=
onsidered a bleaker snapshot of the human condition.  However, out of th=
is scenario evolves a bittersweet,
evocative love story that penetrates through the gloom and leaves you wi=
th a glimmer of hope. =


Sean Derry and Sean McConaha have established the Bang and the Clatter T=
heatre Company to produce innovative, challenging works, of exceptional =
quality and imagination with a particular emphasis on modern plays. The =
aim is to create a provocative dialogue between theatre artists and the =
community by producing and promoting plays that explore the boundaries o=
f theatrical style and illuminate
the human experience. =
