TAYLOR 2 DANCE COMPANY=20
SATURDAY, APRIL 22 - 7:30pm

Paul Taylor, who has been called a genius, a legend, a cultural icon, as
well as "the best choreographer in the world" by the New York Daily
News, "the greatest choreographer in the world" by Vanity Fair, and
"the reigning master of modern dance" by Time Magazine, established
Taylor 2 in 1993 to ensure that his works could be seen by audiences all
over the world. Now in their 13th year of success, Taylor 2 has been
hailed as a world class company by critics and audiences on four
continents, who have also cheered the company for introducing the
athleticism, humor and range of emotions found in Mr. Taylor's work to
audiences across the country.

The company will perform three of Mr. Taylor's beloved dances at Stocker
Arts Center: "Company B," "Piazzolla Caldera," and "Esplanade."
"Company B" features songs sung by the Andrews Sisters, costumes by
Santo Loquasto, and lighting by Jennifer Tipton. The piece was first
performed in 1991. The music for "Piazzolla Caldera" is by Astor
Piazzolla and Jerzy Peterburshsky, set and costumes by Santo Loquasto
and lighting by Jennifer Tipton. It premiered in 1997. "Esplanade,"
one of Taylor's signature pieces (first performed in 1975), has music by
J. S. Bach (Violin Concerto in E Major and Concerto for Two Violins in D
Minor [Largo & Allegro]), costumes by John Rawlings and lighting by
Jennifer Tipton.

Tickets for Taylor 2 are $27 for Mezzanine seating and $34 for Orchestra
seating and can be purchased by calling the Stocker Arts Center Box
Office at 440.366.4040 or 1.800.995.5222 ext. 4040, or in person at the
Box Office, which is open from 12:00 noon to 6:00p.m. Monday through
Friday. The Box Office will open at 6:00p.m. on Saturday for the
performance. Tickets can also be ordered online at
www.lorainccc.edu/stocker. Don't miss out on seeing the company that
The Sunday Star Ledger says "...travels light, and packs some of the
best modern dance around." =20

"PRIDE AND PREJUDICE"
(Nominated for Academy Awards - Actress in a Leading Role - Keira
Knightley; Original Score; Art Direction; Costume Design)

2005 (PG) 127 minutes England
Director: Joe Wright
Cast: Keira Knightley, Mathew MacFadyen, Brenda Blethyn, Donald
Sutherland

The glorious world of Jane Austen is at last brought back to the big
screen in all its romance, wit, and emotional force in "PRIDE &
PREJUDICE." Faithful to the setting and period of the beloved novel and
filmed entirely on location in the U.K, this is the first movie version
of the story in 65 years. The classic tale of love and misunderstanding
unfolds in class-conscious England near the close of the 18th century.
The five Bennet sisters - Elizabeth, or Lizzie, Jane, Lydia, Mary, and
Kitty - have been raised well aware of their mother's fixation on
finding them husbands and securing set futures. The spirited and
intelligent Elizabeth, however, strives to live her life with a broader
perspective, as encouraged by her doting father. When wealthy bachelor
Mr. Bingley takes up residence in a nearby mansion, the Bennets are
abuzz. Amongst the man's sophisticated circle of London friends and the
influx of young militia officers, surely there will be no shortage of
suitors for the Bennet sisters. Eldest daughter Jane, serene and
beautiful, seems poised to win Mr. Bingley's heart. For her part,
Lizzie meets with the handsome and - it would seem - snobbish Mr. Darcy,
and the battle of the sexes is joined. This is the best Jane Austen
adaptation ever to hit the big screen, a thrilling piece of cinema.

"A sumptuous screen adaptation of Jane Austen's 1813 novel that gathers
you up on its white horse and gallops off into the sunset." - Stephen
Holden, NEW YORK TIMES

Admission: To attend a film, you must first purchase a Film Series
