Steven Young (Dentista) Serpente Negra Academy of Capoeira

Steven Young has been playing the Afro-Brasilian art of Capoeira for 5 years with the Serpente Negra Capoeira Academy, under renowned teacher Formando Rafael "Esperto" Pedro III. Earning the Capoeira name "Dentista" from his Contre Mestre Serpente Negra, and rising to the level of Azul, Steven "Dentista" Young has dedicated his teaching career to the cultivation and development of beginner and intermediate students of Capoeira.
Capoeira is an Afro-Brasilian Martial Art created by African slaves transported to Brasil some 500 years ago. A very dynamic and involving art style, Capoeira takes total concentration to master. It can be very acrobatic and moving or it can it be allusive and demanding. Capoeira utilizes every muscle in the body and stresses total control of movement. It is a beautiful art to see and can mesmerizing to experience.
Practioners of Capoeira, become so absorbed in the Cultural exchange, it becomes a healthy “addiction”, wanting to learn more and more of its exotic flavor through its music, singing, and movements. Mestre Pastinha, a very famous and outspoken advocate of Capoeira once stated that, "Capoeira, is everything the mouth eats", meaning basically, that all that you put in to its training and development you are then nourished by the outcome of so much hard work.

A Brief Overview of the Couples Yoga Workshop

The author and Yoga teacher Mark Whitwell, in his book Yoga of the Heart, reminds us that we are all both male and female. This should be obvious since each of us is born from the sexual union of a mother and father. That union, or Yoga, is the root of our true identity. Ram Das tells us that our intimate relationships, and how we deal with them, constitute the ultimate Yoga practice.
From this perspective, we can see how crucial it is for us to balance the male/female energy not just in ourselves, but within our relationships … and, indeed, in our world.
In her book, The Woman with the Alabaster Jar, Margaret Starbird writes convincingly that the “woundedness” that results from the separation of the male-female principle in ourselves, and in our war-torn world, can only be healed by the “renewal of the sacred vows” between these two compatible, but estranged, energies.
Join Tami and Terry on a vinyasa flowing journey that will have your spirits soaring high … together. Bring your partner for a celebration of the heart that will enable your to go deeper that your can on your own, and encourage your to stay on the path, together. We will co-create an afternoon of fun and adventure with assisted Thai Yoga Massage stretches, and we will use the sacred science of the Eight Limbs, including asana, meditation and mutual pranayama, to explore the harmony and the balance between the yin and yang, the sun and moon, the feminine/masculine, and how the union of those opposites will create a healing strength to transform ourselves, our relationships and our world.
