The Broadview Heights Spotlights Community Theater is pleased to announce i=
ts Spring Mainstage production, "The Nerd."  Show dates are Fridays and Sat=
urdays, May 5-20, at 8:00 PM.  A matinee performance is slated for Sunday, =
May 21 at 3:00 PM.  All shows will be held at the Broadview Heights Cultura=
l Arts Center, located on the Broadview Center campus at 9543 Broadview Roa=
d (1/2 mile South of Route 82).  Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for studen=

"The Nerd" is a comedy written by Larry Shue.  The play, set the 1980s, cen=
ters on the hilarious dilemma of Willum Cubbert, a young architect and Viet=
nam veteran who feels he owes a debt to Rick Steadman, a fellow veteran.  W=
illum has never met Rick, but he has often told friends how Rick saved his =
life after he was seriously wounded in the line of duty.   Willum is deligh=
ted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his Indiana apartment on the night o=
f his thirty-fourth birthday.  Hisdelight quickly fades, however, when it b=
ecomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless "nerd."  Rick -- a bumbling oaf wit=
h no social sense, little intelligence, and less tact -- overstays his welc=
ome, and his continued presence among Willum and his friends leads to one u=
proarious incident after another.  Starring Brian Kucherak as Willum and Ga=
ry Webster as Rick.  Also starring: Allison Naso as Tansy McGinnis, Willum'=
s career-oriented girlfriend; Mike Yonkura as Axel Hammond, Willum's wisecr=
