Subject: Audition for My Fair Lady at the Cleveland Play House

Here is an email that many people have already received. Due to the unusual
nature of the commitment for non-AEA actors interest in this has been
limited so I've opened it up to anyone who wishes to audition.

Please read the notice very carefully so that you understand the commitment
prior to expressing interest in auditioning. Also, if you were planning on
coming to the open call a few days later, I suggest you still do so as only
the Play House will be at the My Fair Lady auditions.

  _____

My Fair Lady will be a co-production between the Cleveland Play House and
Actors' Theatre of Louisville in Louisville, KY. There are two sets of
circumstances in which someone might be cast in this production. There will
be a series of principles and chorus roles that will also play parts. These
actors will sign Equity contracts and perform both in Louisville and
Cleveland. There will also be some non-Equity performers for the Cleveland
performances only, who will replace a group of non-Equity performers from
Louisville. They will need to rehearse the play for a week in Louisville,
while the production is running there, and then rehearse and perform the
play in Cleveland. Here are the exact dates:

August 5 First rehearsal for Louisville cast

August 31 First performance in Louisville

September 18 Cleveland non-Equity actors are in Louisville for a week
learning the show

September 23 Final performance in Louisville

September 26 First rehearsal in Cleveland for non-Equity actors

October 1 First tech in Cleveland; first day back for Equity actors

October 6 First performance in Cleveland

November 5 Final performance in Cleveland

So, if you are Equity we would ask you to perform both in Louisville and
Cleveland, and if you are non-Equity we would need you in Louisville the
week of September 18, and then to perform in October through November 5. If
you have a full time job, we would need you to be available to us that week
in Louisville, and also the week of rehearsal and tech starting September 26
and probably going until about October 11. After that it will be mostly
evenings and weekends. All actors will be salaried, including non-Equity
actors.

The audition for My Fair Lady will take place Friday, June 2. You will be
asked to sing at least 16 bars from either My Fair Lady or a legit (no belt)
song of your choice. You may then be asked to stay to move, so please be
prepared to move. Also, if you play the violin, viola or cello please let me
know.

Singing appointments will be made for June 2 from Noon to 2PM. The movement
phase of the audition will take place at 2PM, and callbacks, which might
involve some reading from the script, will begin at 3PM. So please be
prepared to stay from your singing appointment until around 4PM, though you
may be released at any point after you sing. I'm afraid June 2 is the only
day that Amanda Dehnert, the director, will be available to audition actors
in Cleveland.

Please also note that while Eliza, Higgins and Freddy are cast we will be
looking for backups for these roles and all other roles are open.

If you would like to arrange a time to sing, please respond to this email.
Please also feel free to ask any questions. I can go over the salary range
with you individually if you are curious about that. I hope you'll be
available to audition for this production.

Thanks very much and best wishes,
