The UMC Family Theatre is looking for a male actor ages 18 to 35 to play the
part of "Joe Morrison" in the upcoming play, Rommel and Patton, a love
story. The play which is written by David Van Gaasbeek deals with a community
theatre that is doing a romantic comedy when at the last moment before
rehearsals begin the two leads withdraw due to a transfer and pregnancy. The
director, a veteran of twelve years, faced with the prospect of canceling the play
decides to cast two very argumentative and difficult actors who hate each
other. The play deals with the trials and tribulations of the cast and crew as
they rehearse and then perform the romantic comedy. The play deals with
clashing egos, differences in the approach to acting, snow storms, broken water
heaters and enough fights to keep everyone laughing.
Joe Morrison is the lead male actor who is an excellent actor who can't keep
his mouth shut. He wants to do it all. He is paired against Carol Norris,
a talented but diva type actress.
The performances of this play are on July 20, 21, 22, and 23. Rehearsals
are Monday through Thursday 7:00 to 9:30 pm.
The UMC Family Theatre is based in the United Methodist Church of Canal
Fulton, 363 Cherry Street SE, Canal Fulton, Ohio. It has produced this year
Arsenic and Old Lace, The Man Who Came To Dinner, Bus Stop, and Blithe Spirit.
The theatre is committed to bringing the arts to the greater Summit, Stark and
Wayne County areas and invites all who love to act to participate.
If you are interested, please contact Dave Van Gaasbeek at 330-494-1022 or
330-854-4387. E-mail is at _dvangaasbe at aol.com_ (mailto:dvangaasbe at aol.com) .
Mr. Van Gaasbeek is challenging any actor age 18 to 35 to consider this
play. What have you got to lose? We have five actors waiting to incorporate you
into the ensemble.
