Waterloo Arts Festival Saturday, June 24, 11:00am-7:00pm . Ongoing public exhibits through July 30.
The day-long neighborhood fest will feature art exhibits at venues throughout the revitalized Waterloo Road arts district, including the signature storefront installations that attracted media attention last year, as well as live music, vendors, food, entertainment – and a Bike Rodeo.

Saturday Fun for the Whole Family – Especially the Kids!
But this year’s children’s area will be something special, with literally dozens of arts activities for children and families – and at the heart of it : Art Splash! a one-of-a-kind interactive installation involving water that is being created by artist Melissa Daubert. Many Clevelanders know her work through the Great Lakes Science Center, where she was the exhibit designer for a decade before launching her freelance career. Asked why she took on this commission for Arts Collinwood, Daubert cited her belief in the festival and what it stands for – community, arts, access and interaction. About the inspiration behind this installation, Daubert said, “I create experiences for people. Problem solving drives my creative process.”

Of course, Daubert’s unique water-play installation is just one attraction. The Waterloo Arts Festival also offers the following line-up of activities, performances and demonstrations bound to please children of all ages:

11:00 Yoga and Tai Chi demonstrations
11:00-1:00 Bike Rodeo with safety inspections, obstacle course, and free give-aways
11:00-1:00 Children’s art workshops: doing life-size portraits, working with found-art objects, ornamenting bikes & strollers
2:00 Hip Hop performance with Datz’DNation Phunk Dance Company
3:00 Live music – in costume! – with the Helper T Cells
4:00 Modern dance performance by Inlet Dance Theatre
