The Beck Center for the Arts presents
The 15th Anniversary of
Lies & Legends: The Music of Harry Chapin
June 23, 2006 - July 23, 2006

The Beck Center for the Arts presents Lies & Legends: The Music of Harry
Chapin, opening June 23, 2006 and running through July 23, 2006 on the
Mackey Main Stage. This Cleveland production is directed by William
Roudebush and features all of the original cast members who are joining us
from around the country to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this smash hit.

Lies & Legends is a heartfelt tribute to Harry Chapin and his music. Chapin
who was killed in a car accident in 1981 was well known for his work as an
activist. It is reported that he donated half of all his concert proceeds to
charities and received numerous awards for his humanitarian efforts. The
legendary songwriter left us a rich legacy filled with songs that explore
every emotion and facet of life. Reflect on the first time you heard his
music with this profound and riveting performance that preserves the essence
of the man who inspired it.

Director William Roudebush comments, "I first discovered Lies & Legends in
1987 while researching a musical revue I was writing based on the history of
the Village Gate theatre where this Harry Chapin revue had its world
premiere. I was instantly captivated by Harry's unique gift for
storytelling. He seemed connected to the soul of humanity. One great song
followed another. I couldn't stop listening to the music. It took me four
years to create the opportunity to direct Lies & Legends, which came fifteen
years ago at the Beck Center. It was the first production I selected to
direct when I took over the job as Artistic Director in 1990. I'll never
forget the reaction to this show. It took everyone, including myself,
completely by surprise. Returning to reprise the production surrounded by
the original cast (with the notable exception of Ken Benz who, like Harry
Chapin, left us too soon) will be a sweet ride. I can't wait to see how it
will all come out this time."

The cast includes Equity actors Paul Alessandro, Mickey Houlahan and Tracee
Patterson; as well as Monica Olejko---and adds Beck favorite Daniel Folino
as the fifth member.

Sponsoring this production are Cox Communications, The Cleveland Foundation,
Soft Rock 102.1 WDOK, the Ohio Arts Council, Scene Magazine and
Lakewoodbuzz.com.

Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
Two special Thursday evening performances are scheduled for July 13 and 20
at 8:00 p.m. For tickets, call the Beck Center box office at (216) 521-2540.
Tickets are $26 for adults, $23 for seniors (65 and older), and $15 for
students (22 and under with ID). All individual ticket sales are subject to
a $2.00 administrative fee per ticket applied at the time of purchase. Group
discounts are available for parties of 12 or more. The Beck Center for the
Arts is located just 10 minutes west of downtown Cleveland at 17801 Detroit
Avenue in Lakewood.
