The closing ceremony of the popular Geauga County InfiniTree Project =
will
take place Friday, June 30, from 6:00 =96 9:00 pm at The West Woods =
Nature
Center, 9465 Kinsman Road (Rt. 87) in Russell Township.=20

The tree planting ceremony will begin at 7:00 pm.  All are invited to
celebrate that the direct descendants of the tree will live into the =
next
generation. Complimentary refreshments will be served by the Geauga =
Council
for Arts & Culture (GCAC). =20

The InfiniTree Project was sponsored by GCAC and the Geauga Park =
District.
Infinitree has dramatized the role of the maple tree in the ecology, =
history
and economy of Geauga County, and was one of the county=92s Bicentennial
Events.

The closing ceremony lets the public take part in the tree planting of
InfiniTree saplings, get one last look at the amazing variety of art
projects created from the 175-year-old sugar maple, and place final bids =
for
remaining art items in the InfiniTree silent auction.=20

InfiniTree has proven immensely successful.  In addition to reaching its
educational goals, over 80 local InfiniTree artists used the bark, =
branches,
leaves, sawdust, sap and wood of the sugar maple to produce more than =
200
for-sale items, including furniture, sculpture, musical instruments, =
walking
sticks, carvings, and mixed media.=20

Though many of these unique pieces have been sold at the artists=92 =
prices,
all pieces remain on display during the closing event.  Those still
available will be auctioned off (with a set reserve) during the evening.
As with all items, sale proceeds benefit both the artists and the =
InfiniTree
sponsors.

Winners of the peoples=92 choice and the judge=92s choice awards for a =
maple
syrup recipe contest co-sponsored by GCAC and the Loretta Paganini =
School of
Cooking will be announced as well. The Paganini School has generously
provided prizes for the contestants including gift certificates toward
classes.=20
