ASSITANT LIGHTING DESIGNER

Job Description for Assistant Lighting Designer

Opera Cleveland is searching for an Assistant Lighting Designer for its 2007
season, October Gala, and related events. Duties include:

*	Keep up to date equipment inventories for all venues 
*	Supervise lighting budgets 
*	Assist guest lighting designers during planning process, including
drafting as needed, planning circuiting and dimmer needs, coordinating
rental and purchasing needs with electricians and rental companies
*	Organize color and template inventories, orders, and individual
production needs
*	Organize and maintain equipment inventory and electrics road boxes
in coordination with shop foreman 
*	Work with electricians in various union and non-union venues to
coordinate load in, hang, focus, and strike 
*	Assist guest lighting designers during all pertinent rehearsals 
*	Call follow spot cues 
*	Organize and track moving lights as needed
*	Supervise design issues during all performances 
*	Maintain, archive, and file on opera office accurate lighting
records for all productions including follow spot cue sheets, deck
electrics, moving lights, focus sheets, hook-ups, instrument schedules, and
all lighting related paperwork 
*	In concert with Production Stage Manager and/or Assistant Director
maintain accurate cue placement sheets

The ALD position reports directly to the Director of Production, while
working closely with the Shop Foreman and Production Stage Manager. Opera
office will serve as home base with appropriate computer needs and software
provided in addition to space at the Opera Cleveland shop/warehouse.
