comedy which reflect his deep understanding of people, their foibles and=20
triumphs. Over the years, he has written such diverse pieces as Wednesdays=

Hilda which addresses race relations and touches the heart with Jewish =20
heritage and, Sophie=E2=80=99s Legacy, which takes an improbable look at=20=
=E2=80=9Ccreative=20
pregnancy.=E2=80=9D Recently, Ruby and his work were the focus of the Acto=
rs=E2=80=99 Studio TV =20
program, WAKE UP And LIVE with the ARTS where local actors read excerpts=20
of his play, Date Mates. Ruby is also co-author, along with Gary Webster a=

Sue Johnson of Harlem Blues, a play about four female African-American acto=
rs=20
in Harlem, which sprung from his fertile imagination. Ruby also was part of=

the writing team for Webster=E2=80=99s My Big Fat Dysfunctional Office whic=

commissioned by the Ohio Education Association. Currently, and for the pas=

years, Ruby has been leading a writers=E2=80=99 group that meets the first a=

In 2005, Ruby celebrated his 80th birthday with a huge surprise birthday=20
party given by his wife, Donna, and his family, where he saw his original=20
one-act plays, Wednesdays with Hilda and Celibacy Odyssey performed at the =20
Cleveland Playhouse. He has been featured twice in the Cleveland Jewish=20=
News as an=20
=E2=80=9Celder=E2=80=9D person and playwright of distinction. The WAKE UP=

Actors=E2=80=99 Studio has dedicated its 2005-06 season of =E2=80=9CPlayAct=
s=E2=80=9D to Ruby. In=20
September, 2005, Ruby and Celibacy Odyssey headed to the Big Apple, where C=
elibacy=20
Odyssey, =E2=80=9Ca farcical fantasy romp,=E2=80=9D was performed off-Broad=
way at the=20
Studio Theatre. =20
Ruby, a resident of University Heights, is considered a late bloomer. He=20
chose the field of writing for live theatre, because of his admiration for=20=
live=20
performances and their writers. He was in his late sixties when he began=20
and discovered a hidden talent that he didn=E2=80=99t realize he had. Sinc=
e, he has=20
written two movies, Shanghai Journey, and Murrow=E2=80=99s Children, which=20=
is now =20
being considered for production. His plays have been read at the Cleveland=20
Playhouse, Cuyahoga Community College and Ensemble Theatre, Cleveland, Ohio=

Gary Webster, Playwright =E2=80=93 in =E2=80=93 Residence, will have =E2=

Performances, 2006-07 dedicated to him in recognition of his extraordinary=20=

with WAKE UP And LIVE since 1998. As a prolific sketch writer, he co-wro=

Dysfunctional Office, which was performed in Columbus, OH, before an apprec=

Gary has been writing plays since high school. The first he can remember wa=

written in eleventh grade. It was titled "This Wasn't What I Had in Mind,"=20
and the topic was...surprise...relationships! He followed that up with =20
parodies of several Shakespearian plays. He=E2=80=99s been a member of Fox=
=E2=80=99s writing =20
group for years. His playwright's training came via Bob Noll's class at the=20=
=20
Cleveland Playhouse. Gary is the morning announcer and operations manager=
