WESTERN RESERVE PLAYHOUSE
CELEBRATES
IT'S 50TH SEASON
COME CELEBRATE WITH US
SEPTEMBER 8, 2006
OPALS HUSBAND directed by Jim Volkert will close WRPs 50th season with a look back at our beginnings. On this date we will have many of the original members of the playhouse in the audience as well as those who have carried us into the 50th year.
OPALS HUSBAND which runs from September 8 to the 30th
is the sequel to the ever popular Everybody Loves Opal. Bent as usual on a good deed, Opal (Candace Russell) tries to round up a husband for her friend Rosie (Linda Avers). Opal answers a lonely hearts ad placed by Mister Handsome who turns out to be a 95 year old escapee from a nursing home. As expected, complications ensue. It seems Mooney (Jeffrey Braun) is very rich but Rosie rejects her would be suitor and Opal reluctantly agrees to marry him to keep the old man from the clutches of his scheming daughter (Jennifer Bernhardt) and son-in-law (Mark Bernhardt).
Plots and counter plots multiply hilariously.
Jim Volkert says he is enjoying directing this outrageous comedy and working with the producers Darlene Matthews and Sue Moffett. He invites us all to join him and the cast and crew for the fun that they are experiencing putting this show together.
