The Browns beat writer was one of the 40 reporters, photographers, and
editors let go.

It's across the board in all departments

Actually, I believe there are cuts across the board.  Even George Thomas who
covers movies was laid off - but has since been reinstated due to some
resignations. It is still unknown if he will continue to do movie reviews
though. Who knows, he could very well get reassigned to sports!
