A fun study of the Actor's process in creating action completely through
impulse. Students will learn acting concepts and fundamentals, teaching
them how to communicate on stage and how to create and understand a
character. These fundamentals will help students with character
building, preparing monologues, and working with scene partners. This
course is perfect for students who have some experience performing on
stage and are interested in learning more about the art of Acting!

About Arian Steiner

Arian Lara Steiner has studied acting and movement for actors at
Otterbein College in Columbus, Ohio and The Atlantic Theater Company in
New York City. She has appeared in roles ranging from Puck in A
Midsummer Night's Dream, Amelia in The House of Bernarda Alba and Fairy
May in A Curious Savage.=20

Arian teaches acting, scene study, audition preparation, movement for
actors and beginner dance in performing arts schools around Cleveland.
She has been an assistant teacher with Jill Wadsworth in Carnegie
Mellon's Pre-College drama program. She has also taught young actors at
the Pittsburgh Public Theater and The Center for Theater Arts.=20

Her training includes: Viewpoints and Suzuki training with Ellen Lauren
and Kelly Maurer of Anne Bogart's SITI Company, Commedia dell'Arte with
Commedia Zuppa, Fitzmaurice and Linklater Voice Work with Ed Vaughan and
Chirs Kirk, and Psychological Gesture at the Actor's Movement Studio in
New York City.

About Marc Moritz
Marc Moritz originated the role of Talk Show Host in the original
Broadway production of the Sondheim/Prince musical Merrily We Roll Along
. Theaters worked in include: The Cleveland Playhouse, Great Lakes
Theatre Festival, Long Wharf, Goodman, New Harmony, Cain Park, Dobama
and many more. Marc was the Founder/Director of the Cleveland based
Giant Portions Improv Troupe. His improv training includes stints at
ImprovOlympic and extensive workshops with Paul Sills, Del Close and
Charna Halpern. He currently teaches Improv at The Cleveland Improv
Institute housed in the landmark Cleveland Hermit Club, as well as
Improv at Beck Center and is on staff at Chicago's Second City Training
Center. Marc is also a Guest Artist with The University Circle Early
Educational Enrichment Program - bringing Improv and other Creative
Dramatics into area schools.

The Icehouse (Northside Ice/Coal Factory Complex) is  located at 129 North Summit Street between Perkins and Furnace Streets in Akron, Ohio.

Program Highlights:

The six-piece Akros Contemporary Percussion Collective, outstanding percussionists from around northeast Ohio, will open the program surrounding the audience in performance of the riveting work Eolo’ oolin by reknown Hispanic composer Julio Estrada.  

GroundWorks will also present for the first time to Akron audiences Heart and Vine, with original music performed by Gustavo Aguilar percussion, Phil Curtis electronics, and renown saxophonist Howie Smith.  Latitude, which was debuted at Cleveland Heights’ Cain Park Theater to standing ovations, is a rollicking and high spirited dance set to the music and charismatic performing of Kent Ohio composer/musician Hal Walker
