Lakewood, Ohio - The Beck Center for the Arts presents All About Jazz, a
colorfully painted exhibit by local artist Mary Deutschman, on display
now through October 22 in the Music-Armory Building on the Beck Center
campus. =20

Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Even though her parents encouraged her
to have a more practical career, she pursued art as her life's work. She
became a fashion illustrator and designer and balanced those with
motherhood. Later, as an Art Director, she learned about related fields
like photography, printing and merchandising and eventually ran her own
business.=20

It was then that she met Dan, her second husband, and moved to Boston to
be with him. They took a trip to Paris, the beginning of her painting
inspiration. When they returned, she studied painting in Boston and
later in Pittsburgh. The couple moved back to Cleveland where Mary began
showing her work.=20

            Deutschman has published a book through North Light
Publishing entitled No Experience Required, Water-soluble Oils.  It is
filled with lessons of her painting method and the many colorful
paintings for which she is known.

            This exhibit is free and open to the public Mondays through
Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
and closed Sundays through October 22.  A portion of the proceeds from
the sale of the paintings will benefit the Beck Center for the Arts.
