Samba & Capoeira Workshops
SEPTEMBER 16th and 17th
Grupo Unidade Capoeira will be hosting Samba & Capoeira Workshops with Guest Capoeirista, Instrutora "Morena" of Fundacao Internacional Artes Das Gerais Capoeira.
Instrutora Morena was born in Ananindeua, PA in Brazil on 1983. Like many Brazilians she was introduced to Samba right after she learned how to walk. At the age of 10 she moved to the U.S. and at the age of 14 she was introduced to Capoeira. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art which involves martial arts, acrobatics and dance; she originally started training with Artemanha Capoeira in Framingham, MA. At the age of 16 she met Contra-Mestre Ze Com Fome from Fundacao Internacional Artes Das Gerais and started training with him for the next 8yrs. Samba is a big part of Capoeira, Samba de Roda (samba in a circle) is something that everyone who practices Capoeira is exposed to. Later on she started to travel to many different events just to learn the different styles of samba, like Pagode, Samba Tradiocional (do Rio), Samba de Roda and of course to learn Capoeira with different Mestres. Morena has been teaching Capoeira and Samba workshops under the supervision of
Contra-Mestre Ze Com Fome for the last 2 yrs. Studio 11 Tremont and Grupo Unidade Capoeira are honored to have Instrutora Morena visit us.
