n to this list to have been a review of the just opened near Broadway =93Ev=
il Dead: The Musical--=93=0A =0AI: There=92s a splatter zone. There=92s =
a song called =93What the F Bomb was That.=94 This thing NEEDS ta be seen.=
=0A =0AM: --that sadly is not the case. We saw Cabaret.=0A =0AI: Which i=
s just like =93Evil Dead: The Musical=94 in that they were both onstage at=
the same time.=0A =0AM: Cabaret tells the laugh a minute story of a poor =
American writer who is somehow able to travel around the world so he can co=
mplain about not being able to write his novel in every country on the plan=
et. Within five minutes you hate him completely.=0A =0AI: The only place =
he hasn=92t whined inta oblivion is Germany, so he decides ta complete the =
job right at the beginnin=92 of Hitler=92s rise ta power. The philosophers=
can decide what=92s worse for the Germans.=0A =0AM: Can you tell we hate =
this guy?=0A =0AI: We don=92t blame the actor. We blame the role.=0A =0AM=
: He soon finds a room that magically transforms into a nightclub whenever=
he=92s not there, and within minutes he manages to depress a kindly widow,=
an old man with a strange, borderline perverted attraction to fruit, a sin=
ger at the bedroom/nightclub, and the audience.=0A =0AI: The only guy who =
doesn=92t get sucked inta the writer=92s all encompassin=92 black whole of =
despair is the master of ceremonies at the bedclub/nightroom, a bizarre lit=
tle mutant cross between Charlie Chaplin, Lucille Ball in her later years, =
and Peter Allen. =0A =0AM: Over the course of the show, whiney boy gets a=
girlfriend and promptly loses her, the perverted old fruit lover gets a gi=
rlfriend and promptly loses her, and millions of Jews prepare to promptly l=
ose their lives. Of course, it ends with a peppy show tune.=0A =0AI: All =
the songs in the club either subtly refer to the action going on outside or=
are so overt you=92d think Oliver Stone wrote the lyrics. The songs sung =
in the =93real world=94 almost sound like they belong in a different show, =
a much duller, more angst ridden one. =0A =0AM: Cabaret is a very strange=
. Its two musicals mooshed into one, but you couldn=92t separate them. Th=
ey=92re parasitically intertwined. It=92s odd, I don=92t know if it works =
completely, but liked it.=0A =0AI: I liked the production. I ain=92t sure=
yet if I liked the show.=0A =0AM: The MC stole the thing.=0A =0AI: I t=
hink the hot chick singin=92 =93God Bless the Child=94 stole the thing . . =
. but the MC was a close second.=0A =0AM: A bad actor in this role would a=
bsolutely KILL the musical, deader than Dustin Diamond=92s career in pornog=
raphy.=0A =0AI: The old couple is sweet, in a =93What the hell=92s the dea=
l with the fruit=94 kinda way.=0A =0AM: And the dancing is quite fun, coul=
d have been a little more provocative, but that=92s just a personal prefere=
nce.=0A =0AI: Yeah, for a musical about a decadent time it isn=92t very de=
cadent. It=92s kinda like the ABC Family version.=0A=0AM: From what I=92v=

y, then. The one thing about the show that we can say is shocking is the v=
ery end, where the director has added a politically charged, sure to be con=
