There will be a panel discussion on censorship in society, the arts and
education immediately following the Medina County Show Biz Company's
opening night production of Inherit the Wind.

Directed by Tim Peebles, Inherit the Wind is a classic drama about the
"Scopes Monkey Trials" of 1925 in which Tennessee schoolteacher John
Scopes was arrested for teaching Darwin's theory of evolution in
violation of state law. Scopes deliberately courted arrest to challenge
this form of censorship, and the trial became a national cause when The
Baltimore Sun, represented by the famed (and atheistic) journalist H.L.
Mencken, hired attorney Clarence Darrow to defend Scopes.

Find out how local officials view censorship in 2006. Panel members
include:

John Gladden (Columnist, Medina County Gazette) Michael Laribee
(Attorney, Laribee & Hertrick),
Dave Anderson, (Pastor - St. Matthew Lutheran Church), Christine Gramm
(Manager, Medina County District Library), Judy Leuthaeuser (Public
Services Administrator, Medina County District Library), James Kimbler
(Judge, Medina County Common Pleas Court), Mike Tomaskovich (Social
Studies Teacher, Medina High School) and Jane Leaver (Mayor, City of
Medina)

Show tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students (grades
12 and under). Call 330-722-5776 to reserve your tickets in advance.
Tickets will also be available at the door. The show begins at 8:00.
