  COMEDIC WRITING
  Fred Gloor
This course will focus on the elements that make things funny. Students will learn about comedic concepts such as: Clash of Context, Exaggeration, The Fish Out of Water, and Truth and Pain. Anything can be approached from a comic viewpoint if you understand the basic ways in which a comedic response is derived. The class will focus on short sketch writing, but the concepts translate to other forms. Students will spend some time writing in class.
Six Wednesday evenings beginning November 1, 7-9 pm
  Members $110/Non-members $120

Fred Gloor was the head of the Comedy Writing program for Second City Cleveland. He was a member of Cleveland’s first sketch comedy troupe, Spot. For the last 15 years, he has performed improvisational comedy with Giant Portions, The Second City, and Cabaret Data. He is currently Co-Director of the Cleveland Theater Collective, and an adjunct theater instructor for Cuyahoga Community College.
