The following full-time position is available at the Interlochen Center for
the Arts.  Employees who meet the minimum qualifications listed may consider

Compensation commensurate with experience and established institutional

   *JOB ELEMENTS:*

The position works in close partnership with the Director of Theatre Arts to
provide leadership and expertise for the design part of the theatre
curriculum.  The position is year-round, and works with both Academy (9-12
grade pre-conservatory styled arts training) and summer Camp programs.  The
position also requires fiscal oversight of the technical side of production
operations.    The successful candidate should be prepared to supervise
daily student work in the areas of scenery and lighting, as well as manage
the Scene Shop as its foreman; provide regular designs in either scenery or
lighting (or help to supervise student designs) for the Academy's 5-show
mainstage season; and recruit, hire and manage a summer Camp
design/technical staff of 15-20.

   *MINIMUM*


   *QUALIFICATIONS:*

Basic requirements for the successful candidate: a bachelors' degree in an
area pertinent to the work (masters' degree preferred), or equivalent
substantive professional educational experience in theatrical design and
tech; experience working with and inspiring artistic youngsters, who are
mostly on a pre-professional educational track; ability in fiscal management
and season planning; and a collaborative, creative spirit.

*GENERAL INFORMATION:*

The Interlochen Theatre Arts program works in three facilities: the new
175-seat thrust stage Harvey Theatre (with its accompanying Scene Shop,
lighting grid, rehearsal halls and classrooms); the Phoenix Theatre, a basic
black box facility; and occasionally in Corson Auditorium, a 1000-seat
concert hall.  The Academy Theatre Arts Division has a faculty and staff of
10 individuals, all specializing in different areas.
