"The Best Thing" is a concept loosely based on the television program,
"The West Wing." This format relates to both the government and the
concerted behind-the-scenes efforts of a dedicated support staff seeking
to help their company increase sales through a new initiative. The
Chairman of Applied requests a new way to maintain and expand sales, and
his staff members scramble to address the surrounding media relations.

Role 1: Press Secretary

Age: 25-50

Gender: Female

Ethnicity: Any

The press secretary will field a question and answer session on
government sales during a press conference. The character is loosely
based upon the role of Claudia Jean Cregg - a sharp, emotionally strong,
heavy-hitting staff member used to dealing with difficult press
relations.

Role 2: Deputy Chief of Staff

Age: 25-35

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Any

The chief of staff will answer questions for behind-the-scenes
scenarios. The character is loosely based upon the role of Josh Lyman -
a serious, shrewd, and cunning manager of executive aides.

Role 3: Director of Communications

Age: 25-45

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Any

The director of communications works with the other staff members to
support the press secretary. The character is loosely based upon the
role of Toby Ziegler - a brilliant, irascible, and fiercely loyal member
of the staff.

Role 4: General Branch Manager

Age: 25-50

Gender: Any

Ethnicity: Any

The general branch manager will relate messages about press conference
back to field associates. The character is a strong leader with an
inquisitive mind.
