TrueNorth Cultural Arts will be hosting a Special Open House in the New H=
all
Saturday, November 4, from 6:00 =96 9:00 p.m. The New Hall will be featu=
ring
the original art and music of Jenna Fournier.=0D
 =0D
Born to an ever-traveling military family outside L.A. in 1984, Jenna
Fournier has a fresh =93baby toe=94 in the contemporary art door with her=
 boldly
colored, surrealistic and abstract oil paintings. Her other =93toes=94 ar=
e busy
writing and performing acoustic indie-rock music. =93Painting, writing an=
d
singing are a way for me to express or analyze the dynamics of life and
human emotion,=94 says Jenna. Her talents were developed while living
independently in Las Vegas, Nevada where she first began to sell her work
informally off the strip at the age of 18. On her move to Cleveland in th=
e
dawn of 2005 to be back near her family, she sold a piece via a
mid-cross-country trip and finally =93took a hint=94 that she needed to d=
evote
more time to creating art. She has since tripled her body of work.=0D
 =0D
Fellow musicians Alex Sykes and Matt Hectorne will join Jenna on the 4th =
at
TrueNorth for a truly memorable cultural arts experience. Alex Sykes made
his first public debut at the age of eight in Cleveland Ohio with members=
 of
the Ohio Chamber Orchestra performing the Haydn D Major Piano Concerto.
Other local performances have included performing with the Cleveland Heig=
hts
Chamber Orchestra, (1997), many recital appearances at the Cleveland
Institute of Music, (1998-2001), a full length recital at Lakeland Commun=
ity
College, (2001), and various mini recitals at Lakeridge Academy in North
Ridgeville, Ohio. He has been heard on WCLV 104.9 radio over several
successive years to help promote the Cleveland International Piano
Competition. Alex performed in Hong Kong, Montreal, and Pebble Beach,
California in their Summer Music programs, and is currently a freshman at
the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.=0D
 =0D
Matthew Hectorne is a native Memphis born musician, who studied trombone,
piano, and voice all throughout his middle and high school years. He
recently made two successful tours in the South, and is currently on tour=
 in
Indiana, Nashville, and Memphis performing all works he composed with gui=
tar
voice and harmonica. Matthew has been heard in over two dozen nightclub
venues in the Cleveland area, and is looking forward to the True North
Cultural Center performance.=0D
 =0D
In addition, TrueNorth=92s newest tenants, SweetStuff Bakery will be offe=
ring
samples of their delectable home baked goods. SweetStuff is scheduled to
open their doors to the public on November 13th in the space formerly
occupied by La Pastericcia. =0D
 =0D
TrueNorth is committed to promoting the arts through a variety of
instructional programs and both on-site and off-site community events.
TrueNorth created a =93Come and Create=94 Mural this summer where over 20=
0
people participated in creating a beautiful 4 x 16 mural of Avon Lake. I=
n
addition, similar murals were created at the Galleria in downtown Clevela=
nd
as part of the Sparx Gallery Hop. TrueNorth is represented in the lobby a=
t
the Great Lakes Theatre Festival and will be performing Mozart=92s Requie=
m in
collaboration with Trinity Lutheran Church on November 1st.=0D
