  Lakeland Theatre
  announces auditions for
  Other People's Money
  by
  Jerry Sterner
  Directed by Martin Friedman
Sets and Lights Designed by Keith Nagy
  Costumes Designed by Craig Tucker
   Sound Design by Eric Simna

  THE STORY:
Wall Street takeover artist Lawrence Garfinkle's computer is going tilt over the undervalued stock of New England Wire & Cable. If the stockholders back his take over, they will make a bundle but what will happen to the 1200 employees and the community when he liquidates the assets? Opposing the rapacious financier are the genial man who has run the company since the year one and his chief operations officer. They bring in a young lawyer who specializes in fending off takeovers. Should she use green mail? Find a white knight? Employ a shark repellent? This compelling drama explores whether corporate raiders are creatures from the Black Lagoon of capitalism or realists. Winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off Broadway Play. This is a wonderful story complete with bitting wit, social commentary, good business sense and sex, sex, sex. This an adult play with crackling dialogue. Not for the faint of heart.

  Auditions:
  Monday, December 4, 2006 7:00pm till 9:00pm
  Tuesday, December 5, 2006 7:00pm till 9:00pm
All auditions will be held at Lakeland Community College's Performing Arts Center (PAC). Sorry, no Equity contracts for this production. No need to prepare a monologue. I will have you read directly from the script. Additional auditions and callbacks only as necessary; ALL ROLES ARE WELL COMPENSATED.

  Production and Rehearsal dates:
Other People's Money will open on Friday, February 2 and run through February 18, 2007. Of course you will be compensated for all performances. Rehearsals will begin sometime in December depending upon availability. No rehearsals during December holiday season.
WITH ONLY FIVE ROLES IN THIS PLAY, EACH CHARACTER IS WONDERFUL AND COMPELLING DRAWN. SURELY EACH OF THESE ROLES WILL BE CHALLENGING AND FUN TO PLAY. A VERY THEATRICAL PIECE.

  The Roles:
William Coles: Late 30's to mid 40's. Male. The president of New England Wire and Cable Company.
Andrew Jorgenson: Between 50 and 70 years old. Male. Hard working, sophisticated owner and Chairman of New England Wire and Cable Company.
Bea Sullivan: Closer to 50 or even 60 than to 40. Must have a 25 to 30 year old daughter. Longtime assistant and friend of Jorgenson. An attractive woman.
Lawrence Garfinkle: This is a difficult character to describe and even conceive of. Elegant, cunning New York "takeover artist." Between 30 and 40. Hails from the Bronx but is very well educated. He is coarse but not ethnic. Though he boasts of his Bronx upbringing he is educated and probably has an M.B.A.from a good university. Is often described as obese. Whether his obesity is physical ..... Indeed, in the play he often is eating donuts.... so if you have an aversion to donuts.... wrong role to audition for. Make no mistake, this is a grand role. Indeed, Garfinkle gets the girl!
Kate Sullivan: Between the ages of 25 and 35 years. Female and attractive. A Wall Street tax attorney with "shark" written all over her. Bea's daughter.

The aforementioned roles are great and demand great actors!

Find Your Voice

With Group Voice Over Instruction
Starting Monday, November 13 in Lakewood, Ohio

>From My Most Recent Students

Jean- Thank you so much for all your help and guidance over these past
eight weeks. The time just flew and I just couldn't believe how much work
was covered in that time. It was such a great experience! You truly do
help us to "find our voice"! I would highly recommend this to anyone
getting started in the business!! The trip to The Reel Thing was totally
awesome! Jimmy, I was so impressed with the way you work your "magic" to
make our demo sound so professional! You and Jean together make such a
great team for helping us "newbie's" out! Thanks again for a great
experience!

 Thanks again - Cathy Nadolski

This work is far harder than anyone has a clue about. You've been so honest
about what it really takes, Jean. Hard work. Much like any other area of
acting. I so appreciate all the experiences I've had in connection with this
class. It was quite an experience to see how it's all really done at The
Reel Thing. How great to walk out with a completed CD! And how fast the
voice and music came together via Jimmy's expertise was quite amazing to me.
So many choices and he chose what was perfect with no effort at all. It's
been an outstanding experience!

Hope to see you soon, Beverly

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After just two voice over classes with Jean Zarzour, I was so inspired! You
really get a sense of her knowledge and experience in the field. Jean then
prepared us for the recording experience by telling us that Jimmy at The
Reel Thing was the best and that he would take time with each one of us to
make our demos top notch. This was exactly what we got! Right away, you
get a sense that you're working with someone who "reely" knows what he's
doing. Working with such professionalism elevates us. Having the recording
experience is a valuable part of the course because it shows us how it's
done the "Reel" way! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Thank you again Jean! You ROCK, Sista! All the Best - Sharon

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with your class. It is so above and
beyond what I had imagined. I just hope you will have more classes in the
future--you have so much to share & I want to learn it ALL!!!! Recording at
The Reel Thing last night was fantastic -- what a unique opportunity to
record our work at a professional sound studio! Jimmy was AMAZING -- it's
obvious why he's so successful -- I loved watching him editing the takes,
choosing the perfect music for each one of us, gently encouraging us to
change bits of our copy and making us all sound the best we could be. It
was all so wonderful!!!!!

Ellen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jean shares her knowledge and expertise in the art & craft, as well as the
field of voice over work, and her sense of humor and approachable
personality make her a joy to work with. I thought the recording experience
at The Reel Thing was the perfect way to wrap up eight weeks of class. It
was amazing to put our skills to the test in the "real world" setting of a
professional studio, and to hear the final results! Jimmy was great to work
with. He was professional and personable, and he gave very helpful
feedback. It was also fun to watch him in action with all the music &
mixing! I had a great time in class, and I feel like I learned a lot!!!
Thanks for sharing your skills, wisdom & friendship!

Nicole

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This class helps you take what you see and hear on TV and Radio commercials
and apply it to your own work. You'll come out sounding just as professional
as you can be. Recording at The Reel Thing is the perfect end to the class
because it shows us that all of our hard work has paid off. You come away
with a very professional radio spot.

Laurel Johnson

I loved working with funny lady Jean Zarzour. She's as
entertaining offstage as she is on, knows the business, and has a terrific
ear (and voice!) Whether you're just beginning or, like me, need to have
the rust polished off your skills, she can take you from printed page to a
ready for prime time MP3 demo tape." Marje Rody (listed with Docherty
Talent Agency )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took VO classes from Jean Zarzour for a little over six months. Her skill
and candor have helped me slowly emerge from my reserved shell and become
acclimated to the crazy business of voiceovers and enthusiastic speech.
Thanks to Jean Zarzour's outstanding guidance, colleagues and acquaintances
have noticed a marked difference in my verbal demeanor during simple
occasions such as voicemail messages and general conversation with clients.
That alone has been worth my time and effort!" Coletta West (see her on
