Hello NEOhio PAL readers!

I saw THE LAST 5 YEARS at Weathervane Playhouse this past weekend and it was wonderful!  If you haven't seen it, go (but get tickets NOW because it is in the small theatre).

It is the story of a disintegration of a marriage told from two points-of-view, only the husband tells the story from beginning to end and the wife from the end to the beginning.  It is touching and funny and sad.  Great story, great music by Jason Robert Brown.

Andrew Rothman, as the husband, Jamie,  is a powerhouse.  His voice is incredible and unlike the original Off-Broadway cast, he makes Jamie likeable and reveals so many sides of his character.  You cheer for his success yet weep along with him as things fall apart.  The three characters he portrays in 'The Schmuel Song' is brilliant.  Rothman is terrific, this is a dream role for this talented actor.

Joanna May Hunkins is great as the wife, Cathy.  She breaks your heart right in her opening number, and makes you smile with 'A Summer in Ohio'.  Her voice is perfect for this role and when she smiles....you smile too.

Jacqi Loewy's direction, a clever set and great musicians ice the cake to perfection with Rothman and Hunkins.
