Are you an artist who is looking for a venue for you and/or your group =
to perform or would you like a space to display your art work?Karamu =
House, Inc., the nations' oldest African American cultural arts =
institution, is looking for artists to participate in its annual Kwanzaa =
celebration to be held from 3pm to 6pm on 12/27/06. Kwanzaa is an =
African American and Pan-African holiday which celebrates family, =
community and culture. Celebrated from December 26 thru January 1,  its =
origins are in the first harvest celebrations of Africa from which it =
takes its name.=20
This event is free and open to the public and draws hundreds of families =
from northeast Ohio. Artists would have the opportunity to display and =
advertise their talents/services directly to the public.=20

Space is also available for vendors for the nominal fee of $20.

COPACABANA Auditions at Cassidy Theatre
“Her name was Lola” – the unforgettable opening of Barry Manilow’s Grammy award-winning hit song, COPACABANA is the inspiration for this exciting and passionate new musical – a captivating tale of love and romance set amidst the swinging nightclub scene of the 1940’s.
PRODUCTION DATES:  January 19 – February 4, 2007
AUDITION DATE:  Monday, November 27 & Tuesday, November 28
                               7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
                               Auditionees must arrive no later than 7:15
                               
ARTISTIC STAFF: Directed & Choreographed by Monica Olejko
                               Musical Direction by David Coxe
                               
NEEDED:  Large Cast
                  ALL ROLES ARE OPEN, COLOR BLIND CASTING, NO EQUITY PLEASE
        Men and women ages 16 and up who are able to sing, dance and act.
        Excellent character roles for both men and women.
        Please prepare 2 songs – 1 up-tempo and 1 ballad, 32 bars each.  Please bring music in correct key with accompaniment .  No a capella or CD’s.  
        Be prepared to move – the dance combination will be taught only once at the start of the audition.

The Characters:        
Stephen               A young songwriter, who doubles as Tony in 1947
Samantha            Stephen’s wife, who doubles as Lola La Mar in 1947
Tony Forte           Young, good-looking and talented.  A struggling songwriter by day, by night he 
                             works at the Copacabana.
Lola La Mar          A young, pretty girl with misguided ambitions to become a Broadway star
Gladys Murphy     A cheeky, warm-hearted cigarette girl at the Copacabana
Sam Silver            The gruff but kind manager of the Copacabana
Rico Castelli         An elegant but dangerous gangster who manages The Tropicana in Havana
Conchita Alvarez  A Latina beauty and Rico’s long-suffering partner/girlfriend
McManus             A New York cop 
Willie                    A waiter at the Copacabana
Skip                      The house choreographer at the Copacabana
Maitre D’               Host of the Copacabana
Mr. Brill                 Music publisher
 Plus: various other character/dancer roles
