Mieze Riedel ~ A Tribute. The show features Mrs. Riedel=92s original

After chilling experiences in Germany during World War II, Mieze and her =
now
late husband immigrated to Stark County in the 1950s. While raising a
family in Alliance, she began her watercolor career after joining the
Alliance Art Center (AAC). She then began lessons with renowned North
Canton artist Bette Elliott, with whom she has studied ever since. =
Mieze
has exhibited her paintings in juried shows, invitational exhibits and =
sales
shows for over 35 years. She taught for 8 years at the AAC and at =
numerous
workshops. Mieze is a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of
America, the Ohio Watercolor Society and the Georgia Watercolor Society. =
In
addition to more regional shows than can readily be counted, she has =
shown
in national exhibits throughout New York, Washington, D.C., Texas, =
Kentucky
and Georgia, often winning awards and accolades for her work. Best =
known
for her florals and architectural paintings, Mieze has a loyal following =
of
fans in this area and FLAG is proud to honor this accomplished and =
admired
artist. A percentage of sales from the exhibit will benefit FLAG. =

Inna Stabrova and her husband, Dmitry Tuboltsev, are co-artistic =
directors
of the non-profit ballet company, housed at The Turning Pointe School of
Dance in Canal Fulton. Stabrova first performed in =93The Nutcracker=94 =
on stage
at age 13 in St. Petersburg with the School of the Kirov Ballet. She is =
a
national award-winning teacher and former principal dancer with The
Leningrad Ballet Theatre. Tuboltsev is a former principal dancer with =
the
Bolshoi Ballet.
The Pas de Deux will be performed by OYB member and Jackson High senior
Laura Irion, who will partner with guest dancer John Mark Giragosian =
from
the Maryland Youth Ballet. Giragosian recently received a prestigious =
2006
Princess Grace Award. Other dancers from The Turning Pointe School of =
Dance
also have been invited to do a variety of dances during the show, =

Over the Rhine draw their name from the inner-city Cincinnati =
neighborhood
in which they first played together. Linford Detweiler and Karin =
Bergquist
(husband and wife) are the musicians who form the core of Over the =
Rhine,
which was formed in the spring of 1989 and in 1991 when they released =
their
first album, Till We Have Faces. They started as a quartet with =
guitarist
Ric Hordinski and drummer Brian Kelley, but have both toured and =
recorded in
many shapes and forms. They have opened for Bob Dylan and toured with =
Cowboy
Junkies. Paste Magazine granted one of its first five-star reviews to =
Over
The Rhine's album "OHIO." Their latest release, "Drunkard's Prayer" is =
an
intimate recording about their marriage which drew critical acclaim from
numerous sources. Their music is characterized by the musical and
songwriting talents of Detweiler (keyboards and acoustic guitar) and
Bergquist (vocals, keyboards and acoustic guitar).

Stark Arts Coming Together (Stark ACT), a grassroots committee of =
volunteers
and arts advocates, is excited to announce that the second annual Stark
County Arts Week celebration, Stark ACT 2, will be held April 13 - 22, =
2007.
The event was created in 2006 to raise awareness of the arts, increase
participation in the arts and build connections between the arts and the
community. =20
=93It was a challenge bringing together a first-ever county-wide event =
like
this, but ACT 1 was a real success," said Barbara Rosenberg, president =
of
Stark Arts Coming Together. "So many individuals and organizations
participated this year and shared in a true spectrum of artistic and
creative activities. Based on our first-year success, we're confident =
that
next year=92s event will be even bigger and better, as other, new
organizations take the opportunity to participate and add their =
arts-related
activity to the ten-day county-wide arts celebration."
Stark County residents of all ages are encouraged to participate as
performers, audience members and/or volunteers. Stark ACT1, held in =
April
2006, featured over 100 arts events in Stark County in a nine-day =
period.
All art forms were represented, including many genres of music concerts,
dance and theatre performances, spoken word gatherings, workshops, and
visual arts exhibits and demonstrations. Mayors Janet Weir Creighton of
Canton, Toni Middleton of Alliance and Francis Cicchinelli of Massillon =
were
the Honorary Chairpersons.
Schools of all levels, youth groups, social service or youth =
organizations,
and houses of worship, are encouraged to participate in Stark ACT 2.
Restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, and businesses are encouraged to =
host
musicians, performers, or storefront art displays. Creative ideas for
incorporating the arts into the community are welcomed.

artist Bette Elliott, with whom she has studied ever since.=A0 Mieze has

for over 35 years.=A0 She taught for 8 years at the AAC and at numerous
workshops.=A0 Mieze is a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of =
