The Independence High School Cheerleaders need your help! This Christmas=20
Season we are participating in a worthy charity, Gifts from the Heart. This=
=20
charity provides Christmas gifts for children residing in University Hospit=
al=E2=80=99s=20
Ireland Cancer Center. For many of these children they would not have prese=
nt=20
to unwrap on Christmas morning were it not for this program, due to their =20
family=E2=80=99s medical expenses; and for many of these children this Chris=
tmas will be=20
their last opportunity to share the holidays with their families: most of=20
these children are terminally ill. For these reasons, it is imperative that=
the=20
participants of Gifts from the Heart raise a great deal of funds; thousand=
s=20
actually, so that we can provide a happy, memorable Christmas for these=20
special children.=20
=20
This Christmas Season, we are asking local businesses and giving =20
individuals to donate gift cards, coupons, or even a few dollars so that we=20=
can make=20
gift baskets to raffle off at school sporting events. All of the proceeds f=
rom=20
these baskets will go directly to Gifts from the Heart, and these wonderful=
=20
children. Being that it is the giving season, we hope that you will be=20
interested in helping us make a better Christmas for these children.=20

~We realize that during the holidays, especially, money is tight. But when=20
we first became aware of this charity, it really tugged at our hearts. Gift=

from the Heart works toward the main goal, the true essence of Christmas: t=

give to those who are far less fortunate than us. If we all would give a=20
little of what we can do without to brighten the days of those individuals=20=
who are=20
truly less fortunate than us, then I think our whole world, and all of=20
humanity, would be in better shape. Please help us make Christmas dreams co=
me true=20
for these children this holiday season.
