  Lakeland Theatre
  announces auditions for
  Other People's Money
  by
  Jerry Sterner
  Directed by Martin Friedman
Sets and Lights Designed by Keith Nagy
  Costumes Designed by Craig Tucker
   Sound Design by Eric Simna

  THE STORY:
Wall Street takeover artist Lawrence Garfinkle's computer is going tilt over the undervalued stock of New England Wire & Cable. If the stockholders back his take over, they will make a bundle but what will happen to the 1200 employees and the community when he liquidates the assets? Opposing the rapacious financier are the genial man who has run the company since the year one and his chief operations officer. They bring in a young lawyer who specializes in fending off takeovers. Should she use green mail? Find a white knight? Employ a shark repellent? This compelling drama explores whether corporate raiders are creatures from the Black Lagoon of capitalism or realists. Winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off Broadway Play. This is a wonderful story complete with bitting wit, social commentary, good business sense and sex, sex, sex. An adult play with crackling dialogue;not for the faint of heart.

  Auditions:
  Monday, December 4, 2006 7:00pm till 9:00pm
  Tuesday, December 5, 2006 7:00pm till 9:00pm
All auditions will be held at Lakeland Community College's Performing Arts Center (PAC). Sorry, no Equity contracts for this production. No need to prepare a monologue. I will have you read directly from the script. Additional auditions and callbacks only as necessary; ALL ROLES ARE WELL COMPENSATED.

  Production and Rehearsal dates:
Other People's Money will open on Friday, February 2 and run through February 18, 2007. Of course you will be compensated for all performances. Rehearsals will begin sometime in December depending upon availability. No rehearsals during December holiday season.
WITH ONLY FIVE ROLES IN THIS PLAY, EACH CHARACTER IS WONDERFUL AND COMPELLING DRAWN. SURELY EACH OF THESE ROLES WILL BE CHALLENGING AND FUN TO PLAY. A VERY THEATRICAL PIECE.

  The Roles:
William Coles: Late 30's to mid 40's. Male. The president of New England Wire and Cable Company.
Andrew Jorgenson: Between 50 and 70 years old. Male. Hard working, sophisticated owner and Chairman of New England Wire and Cable Company.
Bea Sullivan: Closer to 50 or even 60 than to 40. Must have a 25 to 30 year old daughter. Longtime assistant and friend of Jorgenson. An attractive woman.
Lawrence Garfinkle: This is a difficult character to describe and/or even conceive of. Elegant, cunning New York "takeover artist." Between 30 and 40. Hails from the Bronx but is very well educated. He is coarse but not ethnic. Though he boasts of his Bronx upbringing he is educated and probably has an M.B.A.from a good university. The character is often described as obese but whether his obesity is physical or more psychological... I am open. Indeed, in the play the character loves donuts and is often eating Dunkin' donuts.... so if you have an aversion to donuts.... wrong role to audition for. Make no mistake, this is a grand role. Indeed, Garfinkle gets the girl!
Kate Sullivan: Between the ages of 25 and 35 years. Female and attractive. A Wall Street tax attorney with "shark" written all over her. Bea's daughter.

The aforementioned roles are great and demand great actors!
