The Story:
This new musical featuring all original music -- everything from =

Rock 'n Roll to ballads -- tells the story of a small group of people =

who live and work in a rundown waterfront district when they learn the =

district is being razed for a soccer stadium and a series of upscale =

shops. Into their midst comes the young developer, full of enthusiasm =

for all the changes, and he can't understand the neighborhood's =

decision to fight the destruction of the funky old bar, the local food =

bank, and the secondhand clothing store. But the conflicts become =

personal when they have to come to terms with the ways in which some =

of them use the district as a kind of hideout from the little failures =

they've gathered along the way in their own lives. Will they sell out? =

Or will they stop the development? When their safe hideout is =

threatened, they have to reach out to each other in new ways, and =

what "develops" is better in the long run than the soccer stadium.

Available Roles:
Rob -- entrepreneur, 25 to 40
Sheila -- retail store owner, 35 to 45
Strong dancers/singers required for 6--8 very important roles that =

require versatile characterizations. All speaking parts.

Pre-cast Roles:
Phil -- bartender, 45 to 55
Leslie -- Congresswoman, 40 to 50
Capo -- aging hippie musician, 45 to 55
Jane -- director of the food bank, late thirties
Kath -- street artist, 40 to 50

Those auditioning should come prepared with 1 ballad and 1 up tempo =

song, 1 short monologue, and be prepared to dance. Accompanist =

provided.

Rehearsals
Begin mid-January, Sun--Wed evenings. Starting in March, Sun--Thurs. =

Mandatory tech week rehearsals begin Saturday, Mar 31st.
