Lakewood, Ohio -The Beck Center for the Arts is proud to present =
international award-winning pianist, Spencer Myer on Wednesday, November =
29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Music-Armory Recital Hall.  Tickets are available =
at the door only and are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students =
(22 and under with I.D.).  The Music-Armory building is located at the =
rear of the Beck Center campus located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in =
Lakewood.

Myer has garnered stellar audiences and critical acclaim from around the =
globe. Recently named 2006 Classical Fellow by the American Pianists' =
Association, Myer was one of four finalists in the Cleveland =
International Piano Competition and received a silver medal in the World =
Piano Competition in 2004.  He was one of 12 pianists to advance to the =
semifinals of the Fifth Hones International Piano Competition at the =
University of Calgary, Canada.

An enthusiastic supporter of the education of young musicians, Myer has =
been a frequent guest artist at workshops for students and teachers, =
including Indiana's Goshen College Piano Workshop and the Texas =
Conservatory for Young Artists in Dallas, and has served on the faculty =
of the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music. He is also an =
advocate of contemporary music and inter-arts collaboration.  He has =
worked with the Chicago and New York based ICE (International =
Contemporary Ensemble), Indianapolis' Dance Kaleidoscope, Ohio Dance =
Theatre, and New York City's New Triad for Collaborative Arts, and The =
Juilliard School's "Composers and Choreographers" series.  =20

Myer is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied with Julian =
Martin. Other teachers include Peter Tak=E1cs, Joseph Schwartz and =
Christina Dahl.  He spent two summers at the Music Academy of the West, =
studying with Jerome Lowenthal and, later, Vocal Accompanying with =
Warren Jones and Marilyn Horne. During the course of his undergraduate =
studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, he was the recipient of =
numerous awards from that institution.  In 2000, he was named a =
recipient of a four-year Jacob K. Javits Memorial Fellowship from the =
United States Department of Education. His Doctor of Musical Arts degree =
was conferred by Stony Brook University in 2005. =20

Myer is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most outstanding =
pianists of his generation.  He can be heard on the Dimension Records =
label, performing music of the late Cleveland composer, Frederick Koch.=20
