Cleveland Public Theatre announces Lil Box, a new program to foster the
development of innovative theatrical work in Northeast Ohio. Lil Box
will serve as a complement to CPT's highly successful Big [Box] Series.
This season, the Lil Box will produce readings of three new plays. The
second reading will be held at the end of March and the third will be
held the first week of April. Each script will receive either a fully
staged reading or a simple production, depending on the scope of the
script and the playwright and director's intentions. We will release
additional information about the program and submission guidelines soon.

About the play: On July 26, 1916, an explosion in a Cleveland
waterworks tunnel killed 20. Three worlds collided that night: this is
the story of the sacrifice of immigrant workers, the heroism of
African-American inventor Garrett Morgan, and the calculated
indifference of the city's powerbrokers.

=20

About the playwright: The Measure of Men garnered Margaret Lynch an Ohio
Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship in 2005. Margaret Lynch is a
local free-lance playwright, producer, and arts education consultant.
She was the long-time dramaturg for Great Lakes Theater Festival and
co-founded and co-directs the Cleveland Theater Collective, an arts
service organization.=20
