The 90.3 WCPN ideastreamsm PROGRAM "AROUND NOON" CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVER=
SARY

Daily Arts & Culture Program Marks Decade of Broadcasting on Friday, Dec=
ember 8, noon-1pm

=20

On Friday, December 8, Around Noon, the 90.3 WCPN ideastreamsm daily art=
s and culture program, will celebrate 10 years of broadcasting with a=
look back at some memorable interviews and performances. Around Noon=
 airs weekdays, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

For the past decade, audiences throughout Northeast Ohio have tuned into=
Around Noon to get their recommended daily allowance of arts and cultur=
e. Through intelligent interviews, energetic live in-studio performances=
and eclectic special features, host Dee Perry has introduced listeners=
to fascinating authors, musicians, and local luminaries.

"It's been such a privilege to spend the past 10 years as the connecting=
link between our artistic guests and our articulate audience," says Dee=
Perry. "The Around Noon staff's hope is that we've opened some minds=
to the infinitely different, and ultimately universal, ways there are=
to respond to the world." =20

Around Noon premiered on December 9, 1996 with a segment on the Karamu=
House production of "Black Nativity". To help mark that very first prog=
ram, the December 8 anniversary special will feature a live interview=
with Terrence Greene, the director/choreographer of "Black Nativity,"=
making its annual return to the Karamu House. Greene will join Dee in=
studio to talk about the continued success of the annual holiday musica=
l and present a live musical performance from the show.=20

Throughout the years, Around Noon has earned numerous awards including=
the Communicator Award, Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, Press=
Club of Cleveland, eTech Ohio's Ohio Public Broadcasting Awards, The=
Silver Microphone Award, and National Headliner Awards.=20

Highlights from the past ten years include: numerous live performances=
by artists such as Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, Jamey Haddad, Les Paul,=
and Bare Naked Ladies; special feature documentaries, including: "The=
Naked Truth: Spencer Tunick in Cleveland" and David Hansen's "I Hate=
This"; as well as partnerships with other arts organizations that helpe=
d to create broadcast events such as Dee's reports from Jena, Germany=
in 2000 and her 2002 trip to Africa, "Senenkunya: Many Voices, One Fami=
ly," both stemming from a partnership with the Cleveland Museum of Natur=
al History; "Bardstock F.M." - a partnership with the Great Lakes Theatr=
e Festival that entered its 5th year in 2006, and the partnership with=
The Cleveland Orchestra that has included the coverage of the annual=
 Star-Spangled Spectacular, and a multi-media event including a studio=
audience and high school students in remote Ohio locations (connected=
by ideastream video conference distance learning technology) in convers=
ation with The Orchestra's music director Franz Welser-M=F6st.=20
