CASSIDY THEATRE TO STAGE "DREAMGIRLS" FOR 2007/2008 SEASON OPENER
TRINIDAD SNIDER, AYESHAH DOUGLAS AND CARON WYKLE TO STAR

Parma Heights - The Cassidy Theatre in Parma Heights is pleased to announce that
it will open its 2007/2008 season with the smash hit musical DREAMGIRLS. The production
will open September 2007 and will star Trinidad Snider as Deena Jones, Ayeshah Douglas
as Effie White and Caron Wykle as Lorrell Robinson. Dreamgirls will be Directed
by Geoffrey Short with Musical Direction by David Williams.

DREAMGIRLS originally opened on December 20, 1981 and played for 1521 performances
at the Imperial Theatre starring Ben Harney, Jennifer Holliday, Loretta Devine and
Sheryl Lee Ralph. It was revived on Broadway in 1987 for 177 performances at the
Ambassador Theatre.

"These three women are truly some of the most powerful performers anywhere",
says Director Geoff Short of Snider, Douglas and Wykle, " and we're thrilled
to build this production around them. This is going to be one hell of a fun ride!".

Trinidad Snider (Deena Jones) is a well-known performer and Director throughout
Cleveland. She has appeared in countless theatre productions and most recently
Directed productions of Little Shop of Horrors (Cassidy Theatre, 2006) and Godspell
(Cassidy Theatre 2005). She is set to Direct the upcoming Cassidy Theatre production
of Baby (4/20-5/6/07) and in January will perform in the Cleveland Playhouse Club
Cabaret "Motown!" with Geoffrey Short.

Ayeshah Douglas (Effie White) has been hailed as a singer with one of the most
powerful voices in Cleveland and has also become a favorite on area stages. Among
her most recent credits are appearances in Little Shop of Horrors, Beehive Godspell,
and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Caron Wykle, (Lorrell Robinson) another powerhouse vocalist, has also been seen
many times on area stages. Caron's many credits include appearances in Little
Shop of Horrors, Beehive, Ain't Misbehavin' and Once on This Island to name
a few. Caron has also been a Stage Manager for various productions.
Geoffrey Short is a performer who has been involved with musical theater, pop music
and other performing groups for 30 years. He has written music for radio and television
as well as the stage and has appeared in dozens of musical theater productions.
He is the co-host of the WKYC TV-3 weekly on-air segment "Cheap Date"
and is set to Direct this season's production of the musical Violet at the Cassidy
Theatre (6/1 - 6/17/07).
David Williams is one of the area's pre-eminent Musical Directors having served
in that capacity on many local, professional and national touring productions both
here and abroad. He recently served as Musical Director for productions of Ragtime
and Five Guys Named Moe.

Michael Bennett, who Directed and choreographed the original Broadway production
described of popular music creating a new American sound. Act One is set in the
fabulous sixties-a time of girl and boy groups like The Supremes, The Marvelettes,
The Temptations and The Shirelles. DREAMGIRLS is not just about the singing and
the dancing and the performing. The play is also about the behind-the-scenes reality
of the entertainment industry-the business part of show business
that made possible this cultural phenomenon. Act Two shows the creation and the
arrival of disco-though the word is never used in the script. The subject matter
of this play deals with a musical contribution to America of such importance that
only now-two decades later-are we beginning to understand.

"The play has been adapted into a motion picture by Dreamworks Pictures and
Paramount Pictures and is set to be released on December 25 , 2006. The feature
film version of Dreamgirls will star Jamie Foxx , Beyoncé Knowles , Eddie Murphy
, Danny Glover , and Jennifer Hudson .
