family, friends and all rockin' music lovers to his sixth annual
Holiday Celebration of a Dream at Peabody's Concert Club, December 23 - doors
open at 7:00 pm.
KB & The Riptides never deliver an ordinary concert...it's always
an EXTRAVAGANZA which includes the Belly Dance Bombshells, Patrick Coleman on
Bag Pipes, and the Brassaholics!
The annual concert is a labor of love, created out of an appreciation of life
and triumph over personal adversities. If you are not aware of KB's personal
story, please read:
Hi,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well, in good health and great
spirits. Please find a moment to truly read this letter as I am personally
writing to you from my heart. May you find it uplifting.
I'm KB...a musician, teacher, luthier, master scuba diver, tango dancer,
world traveler and a student of life.
As you may or may not know, I had to overcome many personal hurdles to do
what I love...professionally play guitar. I was born with some disabilities, one
visible and a couple others that are not. My 3-fingered left hand, irregular
ankles and fused lower spine challenged me both physically and mentally as a
child and into adulthood.
But missing those few fingers did not stop me when school kids laughed out
loud...I was determined to play guitar. My hand made holding a pick more
difficult and finger picking was a special challenge, not to mention playing lefty,
as I am right handed.
I did everything with my right hand. I always hid my left hand so people
would not know. As I've grown older, I have actually come to embrace my hand as
a gift, and given the choice now, I would not want those fingers that were not
given at birth. I would choose, if I could, to pass them on to another who
may have lost them in an accident.
My hand has helped to shape my life, my mind, my compassion, and who I am
today.
I have produced a Holiday Christmas show annually for 6 years now. It always
gets great reviews from all who attend and I have never charged admission to
our show. (BUT YOU DO NEED A TICKET TO GET IN)
This show is not about making money to me, it's my celebration of a childhood
dream that a little boy had so long ago, and who followed through with his
dream of becoming a guitarist and performing on a lighted stage.
Please join me, my band mates, family and friends on Saturday, December 23rd
at Peabody's Concert Club for the 6th annual KB & The Riptides Holiday
Extravaganza!
