WARNING: THE FOLLOWING INTERVIEW IS RUDE. IT=92S FUNNY, BUT IT=92S RUDE. =
GET OFFENDED NOW AND IT=92S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT=0A =0AMike: (English accen=
t) Greetings and salutations. He=92s not Mike.=0A =0AIke: (Southern accent=
) He ain=92t Ike. Okay, Deadites, we=92re getting=92 our freak on major th=
is time. Right before we leave ta see the show itself, we present the seco=
nd of our=0A =0AEVIL DEAD-THE MUSICAL=0A =0AI: interviews, this time with =
a whole buncha people.=0A =0AM: This interview began like most of ours do=
=0A =0AI: Large amounts of Jack Daniels, mescaline, and Tang.=0A =0AM: An=
d ended like most of ours do.=0A =0AI: One of us doin=92 community service=
.=0A =0AM: But the middle part! Oh, the middle part!=0A =0AI: When we we=
re trippin=92 balls.=0A =0AM: It was glorious.=0A =0AI: And informative.=
=0A =0AM: And it went a little something like this.=0A =0APART 1: CHRISTO=
HPER BOND AND GEORGE REINBLATT=0A =0AM: We decided to start with the creat=
ors of the show. Chris came up with the idea, helped compose, directed the=
original production, and co-directed the current show. George wrote the b=
ook and lyrics. First time lyricist, by the way.=0A =0AI: We hopped inta =
the Impala, drove up ta Canada, and found =91em at the same Burger King whe=
re Matt Olmstead works.=0A =0AM: Our plan was simple, but it did require a=
little bit of preparation. Ike got a job as a cook there. Surprisingly, =
he=92s had quite a lot of experience in the fast food industry.=0A =0AI: T=
wo words, limey: expunged record.=0A =0AM: I=92ll shut up now.=0A =0AI: =
Good man. So I was there for about two days before they came back in. All=
I had ta do was lace their whoppers with Rohypnol and we were in business.=
=0A =0AM: We took them to the basement--which, for a restaurant, was prett=
y filthy, and strapped them to a couple of electric chairs. In front of th=
em was a television set and on top of that television set were two sock mon=
keys, speakers in their cute little button noses.=0A =0AI: We take you now=
 two said monkeys.=0A =0AMonkey 1: Greetings and salutations. He=92s not =
M=97=0A =0AMonkey 2:  Don=92t be a retard, limey!=0A =0AM1:  What?  Oh, rig=
ht! Right. Christopher Bond and George Reinblatt, you have precisely five=
minutes to escape from your chairs. If you do not, the television set wil=
l turn on and you will be forced to watch The Star Wars Holiday Special!=0A=
=0AChris: Do you expect me to talk?=0A =0AM1: No, Mr. Bond, I expect=97=
=0A =0AI: You ta shut the hell up! We=92re done. I went along with this =
Saw thing cause I thought it was funny, but you SWORE TA ME you wouldn=92t =
do THIS joke!=0A =0AM:  But=97=0A =0AI:  No!  Bit=92s done!  That=92s it.  =
We=92re goin=92 ta the questions.=0A =0APAUSE=0A =0AM:  Buzzkill.=0A =0A I:=
I=92d like ta hear some more about Opening Night during the blackout. I =
mean, this really is an amazin=92 the-ater story.=0A =0AChris: The night o=
f the blackout was unreal. As I was walking out of my house, my power shut =
down. I thought nothing of it and hopped into my car. I didn=92t realize th=
ere was a problem until I saw that all the light at the intersections were =
out and chaotic traffic was upon us. So I hit the radio and bam, blackout. =
My first thought was...."please, not on opening night". =0A=0ASo I finally =
got to the theatre and a couple of the crew members were having a beer insi=
de, kinda laughing at our Karma. "Hey Guys, do you think the power is going=
to come back". They both shook their heads. "Well, let's do it outside" =
=0A=0AThankfully the cast and enough of the band showed up to make this a r=
eality. We dragged out pieces of the set and props and set them up on the l=
awn in front of the theater which was a stone's throw from a very busy Bloo=
r St. =0A=0AThe rest was just magic. The acoustic band rocked. The actors w=
ere awesome and the people on the street (400 of them) loved the show and t=
old all there friends about it. I'll never forget using a flashlight like a=
follow spot that night. It was karma, hooking us up!=0A =0AGeorge: I live=
d the farthest away and with traffic so bad and the cell phones were acting=
crazy, I never made it to the show.=0A =0AM: What the Fuck Was That. Coo=
lest song title in history. Thoughts? Comments?=0A =0AG: Yes, yes it is =
the coolest song title in history. We we're just granted that award. Surpri=
singly enough the tune that used to have that distinction was Lionel Ritchi=
e's "Hello" ... but we beat narrowly beat him out in the last voting. Mainl=
y because "Hello" isn't that cool of a song title in the first place. =0A=
=0ABut we're the champs now. And anyone else looking to have a cooler song =
title... don't even bother... it's just you and Lionel battling it out for =
second place now. Losers.=0A =0AI: What would ya do for a Klondike bar?=
=0A =0AG: I would pay the suggested retail price at 7-11. I would=0A =0A=
M: And finally, Chris, assuming of course Heaven exists and assuming of co=
urse that you get there and assuming of course there is a violent coup in w=
hich you are installed as Ultimate Ruler of All Things, what would you do t=
o really mess with our heads?=0A =0AC: First of all, I'm a good catholic b=
oy so Heaven is in the cards. But if by some mix-up I end up running the sh=
ow, well the first order of business would be easy. I would dump a shitload=
of snow on California and see what they do! Maybe they will call the army?=
Then me and my minions from up above can watch these Californians scatter =
like ants screaming "SNOW!!! OMG THE HORROR!!"=0A =0AI: Then we all had a =
whopper with Matt and went to see Apocalypto which, much like Mel Gibson, i=
s pretentious and nowhere near as good as it believes it is. We had fun.=
=0A =0APART 2: THE CAST (JENNIFER BYRNE, JENNA COKER, RENEE KLAPMEYER, TOM=
WALKER, RYAN WARD, BRANDON WARDELL, DARRYL WINSLOW, AND AMY SHUTE)=0A =0AM=
: Back in the day, you could not swing a dead hooker in Times Square witho=
ut hitting a seedy strip joint, porn theatre, or in fact, someone else swin=
ging a dead hooker.=0A =0AI: I miss those days. Now that Disney owns ever=
ything, ya swing a dead hooker all you=92re gonna hit is a Starbucks. Seri=
ously, they have one on almost every frakkin=92 corner. It=92s kinda creep=
y.=0A =0AM: However, the illicit sex trade continues to flourish in Manhat=
tan. You just know where to look.=0A =0AI: Example: Open a copy of The V=
illage Voice and turn ta the back and you will find literally page after pa=
ge of ads for Asian =93foot, back, and full body=94 massage parlors. I cou=
nted.=0A =0AM:  I visited.=0A =0AI:  What?=0A =0AM:  Nothing.=0A =0AI:  In =
one issue, there were 41 ads for Asian parlors and one Russian. Ya know, i=
t=92s kinda sad that in one of the biggest cities in America, we got foreig=
ners cornerin=92 the grope market.=0A =0AM: As for strip joints, no longer=
is there a thin man with a pencil-thin mustache standing on the street sho=
uting at the top of his lungs about cup size and various things being moist=
.=0A =0AI:  I miss those days.=0A =0AM:  Now there is a well built man with=
a pencil-thin mustache and a uniform opening the door for you to an exclus=
ive and mind bogglingly expensive =93gentlemen=92s club,=94 that usually ha=
s some sort of Asian name and a back room if you want a foot massage.=0A =
=0AI: The point of this story is we met up with the cast of=0A =0AEVIL DEA=
D-THE MUSICAL=0A=0AI: at just such a club, whose name roughly translated i=
nta =93House of the Dancing Jade Princess=94 or =93Vaginas R Us.=94=0A =0AM=
: They were in between sets so we only had about ten minutes ta ask questi=
ons.=0A =0AI: And we were also missing Ryan Williams, who was apparently p=
laying Ryan Ward for an Icons of Fright interview.=0A =0AM: In reference t=
o the song Housewares Employee, are you, in fact, the perfect girl?=0A =0AJ=
ennifer Byrne: Well actually... yes. I am the perfect girl....sigh.... it'=
s so hard being perfect. Everything I do is just.... well.... perfect.....g=
old, in fact. Wait... what? Are you kidding me?! Hell no, I am not perfect=
! I swear, am a horrible cook, have a horrible temper, am slightly OCD abou=
t neatness, and don't have a favorite colour. Plus I laugh at inappropriate=
times, you know, the typical funeral, when people trip and try to cover it=
up, when people inadvertently fart and try to ignore it.... yup. That's me=
. Sooo not perfect! But I think perfect is a little boring to tell you the =
truth. The fun is in the flaws. But of course, take all that away and... Ye=
s, I am perfect.=0A =0AI: Okay, you come up with some pooper puckeringly b=
ad puns in the show. Were you inta puns before, or did this show kill the =
joy for you?=0A =0AJenna Coker: well, i have always been known to be punny=
... (Cue the drum fill) no, in all seriousness I don't think I have ever be=
en one to shout out a pun at will... but it has worked it's way into my dai=
ly life since Cheryl came along.=0A =0AM: First off, I wanted to say that =
I saw you in The Producers and you were quite Swedish. Have you ever wante=
d to, just once, one night sing =93All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Kill=
ed by Candarian Demons=94 as Ulla?=0A =0ARenee Klapmeyer: No. But I've of=
ten wanted to sing it as Ricky Martin.=0A =0AI: You=92re listed as playing=
Ed and Moose. Is Moose another character or is this the infamous moose pu=
ppet we been hearin=92 about and if so, how does one find his inner moose?=
=0A =0ATom Walker: I AM the Moose puppet and to find one's "inner Moose"..=
.Hmmmm, In THIS case, I'd say contact your local Candarian Demon Moose head=
quarters and sign up to go on their annual Candarian retreat getaway where =
they'll teach you how to search your inner Moose depths to bring the utmost=
Moose-ness within you, all for a weekend special rate of 119.95 all inclus=
ive!!!=0A =0AM:  You=92ve been with the show from the beginning.  I=92d lik=
e to hear your thoughts on the opening night/blackout performance.=0A =0ARy=
an Ward: The night of the blackout was one of the greatest acting experien=
ces of my life (if not the greatest). It was like going back to how it must=
have been done in olden days (but of course you didn't have car headlights=
and flashlights etc). You just start doing a show out on the street, throw=
a few chairs in front of you and hope the hubbub attracts a crowd. Which i=
t did, like 500 people because everyone was out seeing what was going on in=
the Annex (an area of Toronto, the artsy area), no one was at home watchin=
g TV, or movies, or in pubs or clubs or anything cause there was no power t=
o cook their food or pump their beer out of the taps. Virtually the whole =
city was out on the streets just checking out the blackout scene. And becau=
se we had bothered to get out there to try and still do our show everyone w=
as totally jazzed with us. We had an improvised band with people who weren'=
t even in the band but who could play or at least sort of play those instru=
ments, who
just happened to be there or people who were doing other things on the sho=
w would pick up an instrument if they knew how to play, our sound guy Mike =
Laird just started playing the drums and he was awesome, didn't miss a beat=
. I mean the crowd was so big it stretched all the way back from the front =
lawn of the Tranzac club where we were performing to Bloor St. like 50 yard=
s back and there were people packed onto all sides. It was probably the big=
gest loudest fan reaction that we have ever gotten for this show, to this d=
ay, it was fucking bananas. I mean Matt Olmstead jumped out of a fucking tr=
ee to start the Necronomicon, how cool is that? The BEST, best ever.=0A =0A=
I: First off, massive kudos for bein=92 in Assassins, the single darkest m=
usical ever written (Thank you Sondheim). Okay, so you=92re in a Guns N Ro=
ses cover band. How does one find his inner Axl?=0A =0ABrandon Wardell: T=
hanks for the props. Assassins was an amazing experience with some insanel=
y talented people. Sondheim and John Weidman are the coolest. Inner Axl. =
I think there is a little Axl in all of us waiting to get out. The key is=
Whiskey. Lots and lots of Whiskey!=0A =0AM: Who do you think would win i=
n a fight, Ash or Musical Ash?=0A =0AI: Jesus, limey, why don=92tcha just =
ask the guy what kinda tree he wants ta be.=0A =0ADarryl Winslow: Well, if=
you could time travel back to the 80's, I definitely think Ash would win, =
but since Bruce has gotten 20 years older, singing Ash could hit him with a=
hot note and watch him bounce.=0A =0AI: If Ryan Williams was gonna kill s=
omeone in the cast ta get their part permanently, and you knew about it, wo=
uld you save him?=0A =0AAmy Shute: Ryan Williams said he would kill me so =
of course I would save myself. I really thought I could trust him after he=
promised to hit Renee in the knee so I could steal her role. Oops, I mean=
....He would never do that....anyway....next question, please.=0A =0AM: An=
d now, we end this interview like we end all interviews, with the famous qu=
estionnaire written by Xaviera Hollander. Cast, what is your favorite word=
for oral sex?=0A =0AJB: Oh so many to choose! Receiving it, Getting some =
"face time", Going=0A"Shopping downtown" Giving it - i would honestly say t=
hat i am pretty blunt and usually=0Asay "Sucking cock". Haaahaa! =0A=0ATW: =
 Pre-Game =0A=0ARW: Working Carpet (Ryan Ward)=0A =0ABW: Head it works bo=
th ways. I LIKE THE CLASSICS=0A =0AI: What=92s your least favorite word i=
n the movie title =93The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living an=
d Became Mixed Up Zombies?=94=0A=0AM: And you bitched about my musical Ash=
 question.=0A =0AI:  Yes, I did.  Now shut up.=0A =0AJC:  Mixed =0A=0AJB:  =
Mixed Up?! What the fuck does that mean? How is a zombie mixed up?! =0A=0AT=
W: Mixed =0A =0AM: What turns you on more, really good pornography or the=
fact that you=92re getting paid to be a dancing demon?=0A =0ABW: Uhh, por=
n is amazing! X-tube, hello?=0A =0AJB: Baby, it is all about if the audie=
nce is turned on to see me as a dancing demon... if not, really hot porn. =
That and how much blood is involved.....wait... what? Ew. =0A =0AAS: How =
about demon porn. Now that would be a good flick.=0A =0AM: You need to wa=
tch more anime.=0A =0AI: What turns you off more about New York, Broadway =
ticket prices or the fact that you can=92t find a decent record store anywh=
ere?=0A =0AJC: Broadway ticket prices.=0A =0AJB: Broadway ticket prices...=
that is what the internet is for.... And porn.... wait... what? Ew.=0A =0A=
RW: Everyone knows my response to this from my bitching on MySpace=0A =0AM=
: What=92s your favorite word that sounds naughty but isn=92t.=0A =0ARW: =
Panties.=0A =0ATW: Intercourse (it has SO many usages...Technically not =
ALL naughty!)=0A =0AJB: Panties. Moist..... No wait.... it think they ar=
e both just gross smelly words that should never have been invented. But va=
gina is funny... hee hee!=0A =0ABW: Pussy.=0A =0AI: What sound or noise w=
ould you rather make, a fart or a choo choo?=0A =0AM: Oh, for the love of =
God!=0A=0AI: What?=0A =0AM: Oh, this is going to get us respectability.=
=0A =0ABW: Farts are hilarious...sounding, not smelling=0A =0AJC: Fart.=
=0A =0ATW: Fart.=0A =0ARW: Fart (Always)=0A =0AJB: Wait, would the choo =
choo be coming out of my butt?=0A =0AM: What sound or noise makes you want=
to shove kabob skewers into your eardrums?=0A =0AAS: Nails on a chalkboar=
d- It takes me back to elementary school where the kids called me twig and =
pulled my chair out from under me. I'm still in therapy. =0A =0ATW: Someo=
ne Chewing while on the phone!!! =0A =0ABW: Carol Channing=92s voice.=0A =
=0ARW: Nickleback songs.=0A =0AI: Yeah, that=92s on my list, too. Finall=
y, what=92s the next horror film you=92d like to see musicalized?=0A =0AJC:=
Shaun of the Dead.=0A =0AAS: The Shining. Can I please play the lady in=
the bathtub?=0A =0ATW: Scream or Halloween. So much material there.=0A =
=0ARW: ALIENS THE MUSICAL (on which Tom, Brandon and myself have already s=
tarted work, Glen Danzig is attached and has given us permission to use his=
classic "Mother" as the climactic number in the Alien nest. Jennifer Byrne=
is attached to play Ripley.=0A =0ABW: Alien. And don't bother stealing t=
he idea; we are well on our way with=0Adeveloping it!=0A =0AM: Unfortunate=
ly, the next dancer was hitting the stage and the bouncer finally recognize=
d Ike so we had to leave.=0A =0AI: Ta end the day, we saw Blood Diamond wh=
ich, much like Mel Gibson, is pretentious and nowhere near as good as it be=
lieves it is.=0A =0A =0A =0ACOMING VERY SOON: Mike and Ike hit New York an=
d see=0A =0AEVIL DEAD-THE MUSICAL=0A=0A____________________________________=
