SUSAN WEBER WITH RAY MCNIECE AND MORTICIA'S CHAIR AT THE SACHSENHEIM SAT. DEC 23

Prizewinning Cleveland songwriter Susan Weber and her band, Monet's Orbit, will headline a preholiday rockout at the city's historic Sachsenheim December 23.

The concert begins at 9 p.m. with Weber preceded by Cleveland jazz poet Ray McNiece's Tongue in Groove and alternative rockers Morticia's Chair. Presented by Indigo Productions, admission is $8 at the door.

Weber's unique lyrical style and sound have been compared to Patti Smith and the Jefferson Airplane. "Sensuality with a backbeat" is how Weber describes herself.

Her band is a "lean rock trio" with Weber's vocals and electric (but occasionally acoustic) guitar and the rock-solid rhythm of bassist Walt Campbell and drummer/percussionist Keith "Trees" Mausser.

She was named 2006 Best Female Singer-Songwriter by The Free Times and also received The Great American Song Contest's coveted Honor Award.

Rock Hall consultant Gary Rice called a recent live performance 'excellence that is truly possible, but seldom seen... when things come together so well, the earth seems to stop and take note.'

Susan Weber and Monet's Orbit was one of eight bands selected from over a hundred for WRUW's Studio-A-Rama last summer. Weber will release a CD and tour in 2007

The 111-year-old Sachsenheim, once called the Saxon Club, at 7001 Denison in Cleveland, is an historic west side landmark, opened to the public last year. It features six rooms including a ballroom, a solarium, a biergarten, and gourmet dining, as well as free parking.
