Focus: Text Analysis/Styles & Genres
	Spring 2007

	Session Length:  10 weeks
			            Monday Nights: March 19 through May 21
	                            6:00-9:00 PM

	This master class is a scene study laboratory for the advanced and
professional artist with a focus on text analysis.  Students are =
required to
read =93Backwards and Forwards=94 by David Ball and =93Hamlet=94 by =
William
Shakespeare prior to the start of the class sessions.  This highly =
effective
and straightforward approach to text analysis will be utilized in scene =
work
during the sessions.  Students will apply this technique to scenes from
various classical settings (plays that require "high style=94 such as
Sheridan, Moliere, Wilde and Shaw).   They will experience an organic
approach to plays that require a fa=E7ade.  Students will learn to =
utilize
historical periods and various styles and genres in theatrical history =
to
help determine their approach to a play and a role.=20

	BY AUDITION ONLY:  This is not a class for beginners, but rather a
unique opportunity in Cleveland for working professionals to hone their
craft with other professionals from The Cleveland Play House Artistic =
Staff
who have substantial national professional experience.  It is designed =
to
make good actors better.  With a class limit of 14, there will be many
opportunities to work. =20
