PHYSICIST LARGER THAN LIFE AT ACTORS=E2=80=99 SUMMIT
Posted on January 17th, 2007.
Anyone who thought scientists were just dry, nerdy, solitary types should ta=
ke a look at Actors=E2=80=99 Summit=E2=80=99s QED to learn about the highly=20=
colorful Richard Feynman, an exuberantly eccentric, real-life American physi=
cist.
=20
As director Wayne Turney said, this guy did break the mold: The famous Nobel=
Laureate who reinvented how physicists think worked on the atom bomb and se=
rved on the federal commission that investigated the space shuttle Challenge=
r disaster.
=20
But Feynman also was a thespian and a bongo drummer, and developed a wacky o=
bsession for the Russian land of Tuva.
=20
The story takes place in Feynman=E2=80=99s office at the California Institut=
e of Technology in 1988. Feynman =E2=80=94 who is musing over his life as he=
contemplates death =E2=80=94 is continually interrupted by phone calls and=20=
visitors.
=20
This is largely a one-man show, and actor/artistic director Neil Thackaberry=
 is up to the part.
