Announces First Annual Positive Action Practice-A-Thon

January 29 - February 12, 2007

Lakewood, Ohio - The Beck Center for the Arts is rallying support for a
good friend, colleague and faculty member through our first Positive
Action Practice-A-Thon.  Beck Center music students will be invited to
find sponsors to support their practice schedule by contributing a
certain dollar amount for every 15-minute segment the student practices
between January 29 and February 12, 2007.

"This is a great opportunity for our students to put others first while
improving their own skills," says Beck's Director of Education, Ed
Gallagher.  "They can put their practice habits to good use helping a
member of our music faculty as she recovers from surgery and loss of
teaching income."

The Beck Center for the Arts is a non-profit, performing arts and arts
education center dedicated to enriching the quality of life for
northeast Ohioans.  We combine professional theatrical productions with
comprehensive curriculum-based arts education in Creative Arts
Therapies, dance, music, theater, and visual arts, serving over 100,000
annually in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Lake, and Summit counties. =20

The music department offers private lessons in voice, piano and all
orchestral and band instruments.  The Beck Center Music Conservatory
provides an opportunity for exceptional students to increase their level
of education and prepare them for acceptance to the finest colleges and
universities in the country.  It is a unique and intensive course of
study that offers college preparatory instruction, as well as
performance opportunities.  In addition, the music department offers
classes in voice, theory, early childhood music, Suzuki violin, and
Dalcroze Eurhythmics.  The youth choir program includes five separate
choirs involving over 150 students from kindergarten through ninth
grade. =20

The Beck Center intends to turn this Positive Action Practice-A-Thon
into an annual event to help support others in need.  For more
