IMHO, "the secret" is an attempt to infect good hearted, intelligent =
people who embrace alternate spirituality with the same fatalistic, do =
nothing for anyone else, 'if you're unhappy, poor, oppressed it's your =
own damn fault' mind virus that has seized the soul of the major =
religions in this country. This mind-disease tells you that it is not =
only hopeless to protest against injustice, it is counter productive. =
This message encourages people to turn away from any kind of social =
responsibility and instead tells them to enter into private little =
mental houses of mirrors where they must, MUST 'eliminate the negative =
and accentuate the positive', like that catchy tune from the '50s, or =
else they will DOOM THEMSELVES to more of whatever bad things already =
afflict them. This mental 'death-spiral' of misapplied logic is the same =
thing that prohibits fundamentalists from expressing any form of doubt =
lest they be carried off by satan etc etc. The end result is the same: =
closed minded, dogmatic true believers, whose belief set has painted =
them into a corner. Once these potential critics and opponents have been =
so imprisoned, the greedy class is free to have its way with the world.
