  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TWO ACCOMPLISHED LOCAL ARTISTS EXHIBIT CLASSIC FIGURATIVE WORK IN TWO COLLABORATIVE EXHIBITIONS AT ARTS COLLINWOOD GALLERY AND TRUE ART GALLERY
CLEVELAND – March 1, 2007 – Over the past century, contemporary artists have explored topics that range from the profound to the mundane, from pure abstraction to social commentary. This exhibition, however, focuses on the work of two celebrated local artists who have, against the trends of fashion, steadfastly explored the human condition through the subject matter of the lone figure in a setting.

  In the exhibition:
THE FIGURE IN A SETTING: TWO CONTEMPORARY TAKES ON A CLASSIC THEME; WORKS BY GEORGE KOZMON AND LARRY KRAUSE
the artists show works that are keenly contemporary in attitude and outlook, but celebrate a classic tradition that can be traced throughout the history of the entire Western world.

The work of both artists, in highly unique ways, focuses on the psychological experience of the single human individual, who, as all of us do from time to time, contemplates the world in which we find ourselves -- existing within the world, yet, strangely, separate from it, experiencing it as if observing from afar.

In a truly collaborative effort both exhibitions run simultaneously at Arts Collinwood Gallery located at 15605 Waterloo Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44110 and True Art Gallery located at 410 East 156th Street, across from Arts Collinwood Gallery, at the 156th Street and Waterloo intersection - celebrating the Downtown Collinwood, Waterloo arts district.

Opening receptions for the exhibitions are on Friday, March 9th from 6 – 10:00 p.m.
Conversations with the artists are scheduled at 6:00 p.m. in Arts Collinwood Gallery
and 8:00 p.m. at True Art Gallery.

George Kozmon, lives and works in Gates Mills, Ohio. A native of Cleveland and a CIA graduate, he has been showing extensively throughout the United States. Known also for his earlier work with striking architectural views of famous Renaissance buildings, he has focused primarily on figurative motifs in recent years. Of Hungarian background, he incorporates ancient Hungarian runic symbols and mystic Hungarian landscapes in his figurative work.

Larry Krause, was professor of painting at the CIA. He lives and works in South Euclid, Ohio. Larry has shown extensively throughout the United States and is known for his expressionistic, yet contemplative, psychologically charged images of individuals in disconcerting settings. His works stems ultimately from his experience as window trimmer in department stores in downtown Cleveland some years ago. Each painting reflecting a sense of staged tableaux about a particular mental state or feeling.

  Viewing hours are:
  Arts Collinwood Gallery:
  Thursday and Friday 6 - 9:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1 - 4:00 p.m.

  True Art Gallery:
  Thursday and Friday 5 – 9:00 p.m., Satruday and Sunday 1 – 5 p.m.
