FIRESTONE THEATRE PRESENTS "URINETOWN - THE MUSICAL"
The Firestone High School Theatre production of "Urinetown - The Musical"
takes place Thursday, March 1; Friday, March 2; and Saturday, March 3, at 7:30
p.m. The funny and tuneful show is an Ohio high school premier. Tickets are $7
in advance and $9 at the door. Advance tickets are available in the school
commons weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Details are available at
FirestoneTheatre.com. The school is located at 333 Rampart Avenue, Akron.
This hysterical satire features a truly funny book by Greg Kotis. Mark
Hollman provide a wonderfully hum-able score. Kotis and Hollman collaborate on the
tremendously witty lyrics. "Urinetown - The Musical" is a hilarious tale of
greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight
in gold. Mark A. Zimmerman directs the production, which features choreography
by Michael Medcalf, artistic director of the Cleveland Contemporary Dance
Theatre. Dr. David Spondike serves as conductor and instrumental director. Donna
Curfman is the costumer, and Sally A. Schneider is the vocal director.
Firestone Theatre is a part of Akron Public Schools highly acclaimed high
school visual and performing arts program. The magnet arts theatre program began
in 1995 and is available via audition and open enrollment to any incoming
ninth-grade student. The International Network of Visual and Performing Arts
Schools designated Firestone High School as a Star School.
