Scholar Caroline Jackson Smith, faculty member at Oberlin College,=20
presents observations about blackface and other forms of racial=20
stereotyping that seeped into American popular culture.  Professor=20
Jackson Smith will be joined in a panel discussion by Karamu House=20
artistic director Terrence Spivey, JCC theater producer Fred Sternfeld,=20
and Karamu guest director Tony Sias. Included in the program are scenes=20
 from the Karamu production of The Trial of One Short-Sighted Black=20
Woman vs. Mammy Louise and Safreeta Mae and a song performed live by=20
actor Marc Moritz, who will star as Al Jolson in the JCC=E2=80=99s upcoming=20
production of Jolson & Company.  Attendees will receive special ticket=20
offers to both productions.
