About the play:  The Importance of Not Being Frank is a modernized,
Americanized version of Oscar Wilde's classic, The Importance of Being
Earnest. Replacing Wilde's pampered aristocrats (Jack and Algernon) are
Frank and Warren, the new pampered aristocrats of American society -
political lobbyists with little scruples but scads of money to burn.=20

Currently their big challenge is to push through the new construction of
a religious-themed amusement park ("Bible Land!") that its "silent"
investors -- high-ranking politicians and Supreme Court justices -- want
to build on very cheap, but very radioactive, land.

=20

Aiding the two lobbyists is Warren's aunt, Madam Purejoy (Wilde's Lady
Algernon), the owner of the most successful escort service on the East
Coast. Frank and Warren have gotten many a government contract off the
backs of Madam Purejoy's girls, and they see no reason to cease with
that winning formula now. Frank falls for Madam Purejoy's daughter,
Cherry (Gwendolen), who works for her mother and just happens to be the
service's number-one moneymaker. Warren falls for Frank's ward, Britney
Buckwell (Cecily), an heiress who lives at his country estate, and a
madcap love affair ensues.=20

Unfortunately for all - and especially for Warren - Frank is
experiencing pangs of conscience and wavering on his decision to get the
Bible Land project moving.=20

=20

But Bible Land's "steering" committee - a blowhard Senator, a
hypocritical TV evangelist, and an obsequious medical "expert" - figure
they can easily turn Frank around Too bad Frank turns the tables on them
by stealing their damning medical report (detailing the deadly effects
of the radioactive land) and threatening to release it to the press.
However, despite these complications, eventually true love conquers all.

About the Playwright:  Tim Tyler has lived in Northeast Ohio just about
all his life and has been writing for many years now (mainly screenplays
and plays), yea, more years than his arthritic memory cares to remember.
Although some of his works have placed highly in writing contests across
this great land of ours, he has yet to make any significant money from
his work. Apparently the man is too dim to admit the obvious and give it
up. As if being rejected by the most powerful agents and biggest names
in entertainment isn't enough, he also seeks more abuse by doing
stand-up comedy from time to time. Fortunately, you won't be seeing him
on "Letterman" any time soon.

Lil Box is a new program to foster the development of innovative
theatrical work in Northeast Ohio. Lil Box will serve as a complement to
CPT's highly successful Big [Box] Series. This season, the Lil Box will
produce readings of three new plays. The second reading will be held at
the end of March and the third will be held the first week of April.
Each script will receive either a fully staged reading or a simple
production, depending on the scope of the script and the playwright and
director's intentions. We will release additional information about the
program and submission guidelines soon.
