  I'm passing this along FYI. Please consider signing the petition and passing it on as well. I don't know if these petitions actually have any influence, but at least we can make a statement about the power of music and the arts.

        As you know, Pete Seeger has been a crusader for peace and justice throughout his 87-year lifetime.  Through his music and his activism he worked locally and globally to engage people, particularly youth, in struggles to end the Vietnam war, ban nuclear weapons, and work for international solidarity and environmental responsibility.

It's time to recognize, not just Pete's accomplishments, but the power of music, and all forms of art and cultural work, to educate, inform and inspire those who seek to make the world a better place.  Join the campaign to persuade the American Friends Service Committee to nominate Pete Seeger for the Nobel Peace Prize.
