A Pulitzer Prize winning play, the creator/producer of the Vans Warped =
Tour, and a new movie title await you at Stocker Arts Center this week=20
as well as a wonderful musical for the whole family coming on April 11th =
& 12th! =20
Here are the details:

=20

Tomorrow - Tuesday, March 27th at 7:30pm
Stocker Arts Center proudly presents Montana Repertory Theatre in
"Lost In Yonkers"=20
By Neil Simon

Neil Simon first published "LOST IN YONKERS" in the United States in =
1991. The play is a touching comedy about an eccentric New York family =
in the summer of 1942. Although set during World War II - a setting =
that plays an important part in the narrative - Simon published the play =
as America was entering the Gulf War in the Middle East. As a result, =
the play's main themes - including survival, the importance of one's =
family, and acceptance - also seem timely, since these themes inevitably =
arise during any military conflict. Although the play is technically =
labeled a "comedy," it is in fact a hybrid. "LOST IN YONKERS" was a =
critical and popular success, for which Simon won the Tony Award, as =
well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Although many =
of Simon's plays had won major dramatic awards before this, "LOST IN =
YONKERS" was the first Simon play to win the Pulitzer Prize. Many =
critics consider the play to be Simon's best work and the pinnacle of =
his career. "If Broadway ever erects a monument to the patron saint of =
laughter, Neil Simon would have to be it." - TIME Magazine =
http://www.montanarep.org <BLOCKED::http://www.montanarep.org/>    =
Tickets: $34/Orchestra; $27/Mezzanine

Then, on Thursday, March 29th at 6:30 pm, come and meet Kevin Lyman, the =
creator/producer of the Vans Warped Tour, up close and in person at a =
FREE public event at Stocker as part of the LCCC University =
Partnership's Meeting Great Minds Speaker Series

Music industry leader Kevin Lyman began his career booking bands for his =
university, and working as a roadie for then-unknown acts, such as The =
Untouchables, The Bangles and Bad Religion. After college, Kevin began =
working with up-and-coming independent promoter Goldenvoice, serving as =
production manager for seminal punk rock and metal bands, such as The =
Germs, Metallica, Circle Jerks, Anthrax and Jane's Addiction.

=20

Kevin is best known as the producer and creator of the hugely successful =
Vans Warped Tour, the longest-running music and extreme sports festival =
tour in the world today. The tour reaches more than 500,000 fans each =
summer, and has spawned a host of imitators. With the Warped Tour, =
Kevin has pioneered the successful integration of corporate sponsors =
with the "extreme" lifestyle, creating a blueprint for sponsorship =
integration that is widely duplicated in the marketplace today.

=20

Kevin Lyman and his company, 4Fini, Inc., have created numerous other =
successful tour productions, including The Watcha Tour, Down From the =
Mountain Tour, Sprite Liquid Mix Tour and The Great High Mountain Tour, =
and have produced custom events for SEGA Dreamcast, Vans, USSA, Jose =
Cuervo and New York's Z-100 radio station. Kevin is also known as a =
music industry authority on multiple corporate branding projects, acting =
as a consultant, production supervisor and branding guru to help =
companies maintain valuable street-level credibility that endears their =
products to the younger market. In addition to running his production =
company, Kevin is part-owner of Side One Dummy Records, an independent =
record label which has an impressive and diverse roster including the =
Irish band Flogging Molly, punk icons Suicidal Tendencies, current =
alternative radio darlings Go Betty Go and swing favorites Royal Crown =
Review.

=20

Let me also take this opportunity to let you know that the film title =
for Friday night has changed. We were scheduled to show "Beauty in =
Trouble," but because the distributor is short on prints, we have had to =
delay that title until the fall.

=20

Instead we will be showing "KAMCHATKA" on Friday, March 30 - 8:00pm

2002 (Not Rated) 105 min. Argentina/Spain/subtitles
Director: Marcelo Pi=F1eyro
Cast: Ricardo Darin, Cecilia Roth, Matias Del Pozo, Milton De La Canal

KAMCHATKA, Director Marcelo Pi=F1eyro's emotional drama, is set in =
Argentina just after the 1976 revolution. A lawyer takes his wife and =
children to the country after the military coup, and they adopt new =
identities. The story, told through the eyes of a young boy obsessed =
with the escape artist Harry Houdini, shows that the bonds of love and =
family can withstand the terrors of politics. The film takes its title =
from the Russian peninsula found in the famous board game "Risk" in =
which players roll the dice from the non-safety of separate countries =
and their temporary armies. Life is Risk is the main message of the =
movie. Harry's mother is a research doctor and nervous chain smoker =
while his father is a human rights lawyer, neither are criminals. =
However, they happen to be in Argentina during the "dirty war," and find =
themselves running away to the country under instantly assumed names =
(the oldest boy finds a left-behind book on Houdini, and takes on the =
escape artist's first name). Though mom and dad are both loving and =
attentive parents to Harry and his little brother Tiny, still this =
imposed exile is not easy for the children. They are ripped from home, =
school and friends and are forced to hide themselves and their =
identities. It's even harder on the parents because they know that if =
they are caught they will be tortured and killed. Written by Marcelo =
Figueras and Marcelo Pi=F1eyro, KAMCHATKA is a touching paean to true =
family values. The predominant tone of the film is one of great =
tenderness. KAMCHATKA was Argentina's official submission for the 2002 =
Oscar Awards, Foreign Language film category, and was the Audience Award =
Winner at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2003.

"It's a rare drama that focuses on such a functional family=20
although they still carry the usual foibles and flaws." - Straight.com =
Vancouver

Finally, I want you to let you know about a special treat - a musical =
the whole family can enjoy - that has recently been added to the Stocker =
schedule:

"A Kid's Life!"

Wednesday, April 11 at 11 am and 7 pm &
       Thursday, April 12 at 11 am=20

When "A Kid's Life!" begins, we meet Zack, an adorable 5-year-old boy, =
and his golden retriever and best friend, Starsky. Together, they =
embark on a fun-filled adventure through their hometown where they =
befriend Zoe, a spunky 5-year-old girl who is new to town and rather =
shy. Gradually, Zack wins her trust and brings her out of her shell. =
Over the course of the day, Zack and Zoe encounter many new friends: =
from a talking clock who teaches them the importance of time, to a =
beautiful owl who reminds them that animals have feelings too, to an =
orange tree that gives them a deeper appreciation of nature. Mr. =
Sullivan, the corner store clerk, also joins the fun by showing them how =
wonderful "a kid's life!" can be! Packed with wholesome family =
entertainment and positive messages, this feel-good musical enchants =
audiences of all ages and is sure to get you moving!

The show runs one hour, and each of the performances will be followed by =
a meet-and-greet in the lobby with the cast in their colorful costumes. =
"A Kid's Life!" encourages positive thinking for children and inspires =
them to: appreciate the environment, believe in themselves, respect =
others, and most of all enjoy the magic of a kid's life! It's the =
perfect introduction to the wonderful world of live musical theatre. =
Let the charm and magic of "A Kid's Life!" create lasting memories for =
you and your family. www.akidslife.net =
